"Mom, I have no friends"... how can I help my 14 year old make friends? I had him in a 6 week social skills group and he still doesn't understand the basics. It's hard when all he likes to do is sit in his room on his computer... any thoughts?

im having the same proublem with my 14 year old he is adhd, and in the special needs class at his school due to being developmentally delayed plus he is over weight and all he does is come home from school and says he hates school cause he has no friends he just started high school so he has no friends hes use to and its hard for him to make friends due to in elementry they teased him so he dont want to talk to kids figureing this will happen again so he sits in his room and plays his computer or ps3 and dont even want to talk to us im very worried hes in councelling but dont talk even to her...its hard but hopefully in the near future your child and mind will able to make friends to hang out with ...god bless your family

Does the school have a computer club? Sometimes a common interest is all it takes.

That is a really hard situation I think our family is heading down that same situation in about 3 years. I can already see the separation in her and others in her peer group. I hope you don't mind I don't have a good easy answer but an understanding ear. I will lift him up in my prayers tonight.
