My son is turning 14 next month and has been on Daytrana since he was 8. At the beginning he did itch and have irritation but after a while it seems to decrease. I honestly believe that it's the best treatment for kids who can not swallow pills. Give his skin time to get use to it and clean the area with alcohol after each use and then put lotion on it at night so that it has time to soak into his skin. He should be ok. Good luck..

My 8 yo daughter has been on the Daytrana patch for about three weeks. Fortunately, we have had no real skin irritation issues, just some occasional itching. She has eczema and I was really concerned this would be an issue. Every evening after her shower I have her apply pure unrefined coconut oil instead of lotions. I make sure she really moisturizes her hips. We also switch the hip the patch will be applied to daily. Then, in the morning before she wakes up I wipe her hip with an alcohol swab to remove all traces of the oil and apply the patch. This regimen has worked well for us. Best of luck to you and your son.

My son has been on Daytrana for 3 years. We moved the patch around. He likes it best on either side of his spine above his belt line. I am trying to have him learn to do it by himself sometimes. He sticks it on his stomach.
For a while it would itch (the hips were itchy). but now rarely a problem. Sometimes it will itch and I replace it with another patch in a different spot and no itchiness. If you can find 4-6 different places, it will lesson the time the skin has the medicine on it.
Hope that helps. I love Daytrana!

Well try putting on lotion where ever your using the patch and also clean the area with alchol. Put the lotion on when you clean the area where the patch was at then put lotion on that area and other area that you use the patch at as well. I hope this helps.
