It's been almost 2 years since we started our son on Intuniv and we are still very pleased with the results. He's currently on Metadate CD in the morning and Intuniv and Clonidine at night. (the clonidine helps him sleep) He's eating much better and is now growing and putting on weight like he should, whereas before he was losing weight. The Intuniv has made such a difference that he's been able to cut back on his morning medication and still focus in school.

I'm so glad I found this site! My son is ADHD and he was on Adderall which did not deal with the symptoms and he was anxious and continued to lose weight (he's already too thin). We switched to Strattera which helped a little but he turned 12 this year, he's in the first month of middle school and I'm already being called in for conferences because of his behavior. He's at the max dose for Strattera for his weight and it seems useless. We've been thinking about going to Intuiv in our desperation and I was trying to find ANY positive messaging about it. I'm exhausted.

My youngest, has ADD/Anxiety?PTSD-from sa by a family member, she was having night mares, couldnt sleep, eat, bounced and climbed all over... her grades were poor, her speach was un recognizable... she had tried clonidine, and concerta, while the clonidine worked, the concerta made her more aggressive and hyper, so they switched her to intuniv.. she has been on it for three months now, i absolutely love it, although i think she needs a little adjustment, for she is starting to show she may need dosage... but she is doing remarkable, grades went up, sleeps thru the night, has talked about her history and is working really hard in therapy.... the only down fall i see with it, she has complained of being dizzy.. but other wise.. i am happy with my decision... they also just diagnosed my ten year old with ADD/anxiety and aggression she too just started intuniv... i am hoping she has same response.. the school thought she was not add but we went to a psychiatrist who begged to differ, he did testing and talked to her for over an hour. he said some children get passed by in school cause they are so smart, that they can hide symptoms well so it goes un noticed by the school for years. I sometimes feel some kids are diagnosed with adhd by doctors who just cant figure it out, i believe my girls have anxiety which is making them show ADD... i know when i am anxious i cannot concentrate to save my life... so i guess its a toss up... good luck to everyone...:)

Our 6 year old son started the 1mg Intuniv 3 days ago and we haven't noticed any difference at all yet. He is a big kid at 68 pounds and I want to go ahead and switch to the 2mg pill tomorrow. Any thoughts, opinions or advice??

I might try after the first week to give it to him earlier and see if it helps.

what time of day are you giving it to him? We had the same problem with drowsiness during the day, so we started giving it to him at about 6:30pm and that seems to have solved the problem.

Thank you for all the feedback. We are on day 5 of using intuniv and so far so good. He did unfortunately wake up the first day with a bad belly ache and then went to school and vomited. The only other things he has displayed in tiredness during the day and he is constantly thirsty. I have actully seen a change in him for the better though which is a huge plus. A few weeks ago we had tried the focalin xr what a nightmare. This has definitely been a step in the right direction.

My 12 yr old was on daytrana for 3 1/2 yrs, in the last few months it wasn't working as before. The Dr. wanted to try Intuniv and vayvanse. After 2 wks of both we were to drop the vayvanse. After we did this it seemed like he wasn't on anything. He was having problems at school with grades & behavior. We put him back on vayvanse, upped the dose and took him off intuniv. Since then we have had no problems, grades are back up and he his back to his good self. Plus no side effects.

My 7 year old is on a combination of Intuniv and Daytrana and it has made a huge difference. We tried multiple medications before, but this combo is far and away the best. His appetite is much closer to normal, his behavior is improved and so is his focus/concentration.

My son is 11yo and has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and ADHD since age 5. Through the years we have tried many medications for both mood stabilization and attention span. He started intuniv in November and after adjusting the dosage/timing/frequency, there have been notable improvements both at home and at school. He currently takes 2mg before school and then a 1mg dose midday.Although intuniv is a once a day medication, we found he was still having problems later in the day. with the addition of the second dosage, he is now able to attend an entire day of school and actually complete assignments with very little redirection. He is currently in a behavior modified classroom which is very controlled and low student to teacher ratio but with this medicine, he has been able to transition into the regular classroom for half a day now, and no office refferals, in school or out of school suspensions since february !!!! most of the possible side effects noted are mild compared to other ADHD meds but I have yet to notice any problems. His sleep has improved at night yet he has had no drowsiness during the day. His appetitie is normal, where on other medications, he has either over ate or had zero appetite. He hasn't experienced any headaches or dizziness either. So far, I have no complaints with Intuniv and have found it has brought remarkable improvement to my sons life !

My 5 yr old daughter is on Intuniv 2 mg. We started her back in October 2010 on 1mg. The 1st day she sat down and did 4 hrs of homework/coloring/activities without getting up. It was our miracle drug. We kept her on 1 mg for about 2 months and then up'd her dosage to 2 mg. Since she's been on Intuniv we can actually go out to eat and have a peaceful dinner without her jumping up and down and not being able to sit still. She's only had a few side effects but nothing we couldn't handle. Intuniv made her tired 'til she got use to it. Our pharmacist told us to start it at night time until she got use to it and then switch it to the morning time. In January is when we switched to giving it to her in the morning. Intuniv has definitely worked for us for our 5 yr old, I'm thinking about asking the doctor to switch our 10 yr old to the same medicine (my 10 yr old takes Stratera). Hope that helps! If you have any other questions, let me know!

For my son, Intuniv seems like a miracle drug. I keep on the look out for side effects though.
