Hello, I have never posted in here before. But my daughter has just started Intuniv, we are on Day 2. I haven't noticed too much of a change in behavior, but I noticed she is so tired. She fell asleep while doing her homework and during school today. I just wondered how long will that last or if I should give it to her at night Is this a common Intuniv side effect in children? I would love to hear everyones input.

Im surprised ur doc didnt tell u to give it to ur child sat night. My son is up to 3 mg currently and been on it a month. it will slow a childs heart beat the first week so limit running and such. yes sleeping is a totally normal Intuniv side effect in children. my son takes it at night before bed and did fall asleep after school for i think 2 days in that week. I think it helps limit his tantrums to mayne one a week but its not a cure all and all kids r different. i also have him on Synaptol http://www.synaptol.com he takes it after school and before bed. its a liquid and it has a dropper. he takes 1cc/ml. we started at 1 then 2 now we are at 3mg of intuniv. i didnt start the synaptol till we were on the 3mg.

My son also takes it he's 8 on 2 mg went from 1mg with no improvement but with the 2 mg we've giving it to him at night for sleep and has been coming home behaving better than he has been in a while. He's also on 15 of focalin and so far so good. I don't know how long it will actually take for it to help out more. Good luck !

Not sure what dosage she is on but I give my twin 6 year old girls 1mg at dinner time. Started meds late December and there was a dramatic improvement in school after a few days.

My son is on Intuniv and I love it, I always give it in the morning. I would give it a few more days and see if she becomes more alert.

Hi. My 8 yr son is on INTUNIV since late December. at home and also de Teachers have seen great improvement in him. He sits for longer periods of time at school and his grades have improve. We give it to him at night. Since it is a slow release dosis it helps him to sleep and is rested in the morning.

Be careful with intuniv. I asked my son's pediatrician about it and he told me he put 3 kids on it and all 3 went psychotic. He said another doctor in the same office had the same experience with all but one kid. The one kid is showing a benefit from the med, but those are some scary variations if you ask me. He said he no longer prescribes intuniv because of the side effects in children.

My son just started 1mg. intuniv last night and woke up with his tummy hurting and diarrhea. I'm not sure if we should keep on giving it to him? Is this an intuniv side effect in children? We were told to give it to him at night just like we did the 18mg strattera. We took him off the strattera because it was giving him horrible heartburn even on heartburn medicine. It seemed to work really well. I'm just so confused!! This is way harder then I expected it to be, the medicines have so many side effects.

Yes he has about 8lbs in 2 months!!!! Ever since he started this he has been constantly hunger, which I don't give in too so I'm wondering if it is a side effect of Intuniv in children.

Kelli - are you saying your son has had weight gain since starting the Intuniv? Is weight gain an Intuniv side effect in children? Our son has gained more weight since starting the Intuniv than he has in nearly two years.
