My son Willie is 10 he was diagnosed with adhd at 6 almost 7. It has been a rough 3 years I also learned it runs on his father side. I have 4year old daughter Shamaya last year I had her tested because I did not want to delay helping her they never gave me on offical diagnosis but see things in her that I ignored with my son Is adhd the same in boys as it is in girls from Stacie Morrison

No girls seem to be different with ADHD they cope better with it than boys and dont seem to have it as bad they say it is more harder to spot in girls, but i am sure she will do just great with parents that care so much to get it checked out so early well dont : )

I have twins that were diagnosed at 4 with ADHD and one that also has ODD and it has been a struggle. I am not sure if it's because they are identical and have because they literally have identical genes or not. At least I know I am not alone in this!Good luck honey

i have an 8 year old son with adhd and was diagnosed at about 4 nearly 5, i also have another son who is 5 and is undergoing test for adhd as he has all the same signs, with having 4 sons in all i know its possible to have more than 1 with adhd, but chose not to have my son on meds and use natural products instead omega3 and omega 6 eyeq capsuals i found they helped alot, but it tool around a year to notice a differance but is worth it,

My son was diagnosed in 1st grade (the school highly suggested I get him tested - I didn't even know what it was at the time). In my heart of hearts I knew his younger sister also had it, but had a tough time getting her diagnosed, as the criteria must be met in two settings and her teachers all poo-pooed the idea of her having ADHD, until her 3rd grade teacher (God bless her). Previously her teachers just said she talked too much, so they just sat her where she was not next to her friends, and her day-dreaming was not a problem in the classroom. Teachers tend to focus on the problematic boys & the girls with ADHD go un-noticed. So when your daughter gets to school, keep communication open with the teachers & hopefully you will get one that takes notice sooner rather than later. My kids are both now teens. It's not easy, even with medication - but I wouldn't trade them for the world! (P.S. - my now-adult step-daughter has ADD and my husband has ADHD, so I am surrounded). ;-)

I have twin 8 year old boys that are fraternal twins. Both boys have been diagnosed with ADHD, but at different times. One twin was diagnosed by age 4 1/2, whereas the other wasn't diagnosed until 6 1/2 years old. They are both now on Concerta and doing well. I am also mildly ADD and so is my husband, so it definitely runs in families. I am also a pharmacist and I tend to see that in families with 2 or more children, there will be more than one of them will be on ADHD meds. Be persistent with getting your daughter the help she needs and just keep a careful watch on her.

I have a 7 year old that was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 2 1/2 which is very unusuall. We fought the diagnosis for almost a year until our second son was born and our first son was very impulsive and aggressive with him. Our second son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 4. It does run in families so keep and eye on your daughter and watch for signs. When she starts school te teachers can not tell you tehy think she has ADHD. It is against the law. What we can tell you is your child is having trouble focusing, or is constantly moving, etc. Good luck with all. Raisng ADHD kids is a challenge.
