hi, I a mom of a 8 year old boy and he has been having a lot of trouble at school lately like getting mad quick, talking back to all the teachers and leaving the classroom and fighting with other kids. He was a great student last year and all of a sudden he has develop this attitude with everyone. A few of my friend think I should get him tested for ADHD and im not sure and wanted some help or at less advice on this matter.he is the only boy in the house he has 4 sisters and his dad is not really involved with him,I don't know if that's why he acting the way he is.But I just so loss at what to do for him.he is a really great kid and has a big heart.I just want him to be happy at school and right now he is not

i was told on Friday that he is now way behind in this school work and the teacher doesn't way to push him to do it since he has had 3 good day at school she think it might upset him and he will act up.i have a meeting w/ the school on the 23rd of this month to talk about him and what we can do to help him.I'm hoping this will help him

His symptoms are a lot like my son. Easy anger, fidgeting, talking back, but if you say that he didn't have this problem before, than something is bothering him. You need to get him counsling. There are lots of good sliding pay scale places out there if money is and issue. If he does have ADHD the counsler can advise you, if not maybe they can get him to open up with what he is fighting with.

i have done the school meeting at and it seems to make no differences and he always end up in the office at least once a day and is now giving the principal a hard time as well.I have asked him if anything is wrong and he say no he just gets mad.His teacher and I have talked a few times to try and make him happy. we have asked where he wants to sit and he decide to sit by his teacher so he wont get into trouble but whenever he get upset or mad he leave the classroom and walk around the halls

Not all schools have counselors available, and the school psychologists are generally pretty booked doing testing. I would ask the school for a meeting (our district calls it a student study team "sst") other districts call them by other names. But then you could talk to the right people in your school about what resources they have for helping your son at his school.

Don't rush to label him. He sounds anxious and stressed. I'd consult a school counselor first and see if she can get him talking. Sounds like somethings bothering him. Maybe he is being bullied by someone or having some self esteem issues? Possibly just doesn't know what choices/options he has in situations so he acts out. He doesn't sound uncontrolled/implusive since he's shown self control before so that makes me question a disorder.
