She won't stop talking!

My daughter is just about to turn 4 and for the past two years has gotten progressively worse. She does not have the ability to stop talking. It causes her to run into things, trip over her own two feet, and it takes her 45 minutes to complete a meal because she simply can't do both at the same time. She talks over people just so that she's heard above everyone and she can't stand it when her father comes home and wants to tell me about his day eventhough he spends his first 5 minutes at home one on one with her and her little brother. Anyone else have this problem? And if so, what do you do about it? I've tried reasoning with her, yelling, punishing, and even flat out ignoring her. Nothing works.

I would talk to them about her, my daughter isn't the angry, out of control type that usually associates itself with boys.  She can't be quiet, figits constantly, and has so much trouble paying attention that she can't even look you in the eyes when you are talking directly to her.

I have this same problem. After she started on meds the talking calmed down, but has not stopped. I usually try and give her something to keep her busy until I can listen to just her and when in the car I offer her a treat for not talking so much. I hope this helps.

this is somwhat typical of adhd. try some thing concrete. like a koosh ball or some thing that she needs to hold for her turn to talk n pass it around. maybe try a timer or somthing.
