I did the Cheerios trick from the first day I started potty training my son. He's 8 now and has been potty trained since he was 15 months old ... we haven't had a mess since he was 2.

I have a 10 yr old boy w/ ADHD and he STILL gets pee behind the toilet and on the floors...drives me crazy. He has his own bathroom, so I know it's all his and not his brother or sister's mess. I seriously think he looses concentration. I have told him to start sitting at home and it has worked some--although he forgets sometimes and there's pee on the floor all over again. I'm already teaching my 2 year old boy to sit...he has never stood yet and has been going on the potty for almost 6 months. Saves a lot of cleanup time!

hahahahah this rings a bell!! I have 3 boys but the only one who manages to pee everywhere but the toilet is my eldest whos 8 & has adhd & autism. I have watched him & can see why, he even loses concentration in bathroom & stops watching what hes doing & starts playing with whatever else is in near reach! Even if that means turning round in the middle of his buisness! Have tried things like giving him something to aim at but that only holds his interest for a few days then it stops working & I have to move on to something else. Have currently given up & just taken to rushing up to the bathroom before anyone comes round to check he hasnt been there! Its become a bit of a joke with family members though really its not that funny. He was toilet trained at 2 though wasnt dry until 6! & still sometimes wets in the day where he just forgets what hes doing.

I taught my boys to take one piece of toilet paper, throw it in the bowl and try to aim at it. Good Luck!!

I taught my boys to stand and pee by throughing some cherrios in the toilet and told them to sink them.. teaches them to aim and keeps the bathroom clean.. Sometimes they get the toilet seat.

I know exactly what you are experiencing. My boys that are potty trained are 9 yrs, 8yrs, 6 yrs, and 4 yrs. they make messes out of the bathroom all the time. We have them sit all the time to go to the bathroom, but when they are going at early hours of the am and are barely awake, that is when the problem escalates. I usually end up cleaning the bathroom, before I can even attempt to go myself. I found that making the kids clean the bathroom up, when are awake enough to do this, has been a solution I have had to use frequently.

I have 2 boys - and to avoid the "spraying pee" issue I taught them to sit to do their business... the only time they stand is at school (urinal) or in the bush. It sure helps keep the washroom cleaner!
