My son is 6 yr old and ADHD. He is peeing in strange places, like the bathtub, behind the toilet, in storage containers, in the vents and many others. I DO NOT understand this. This is a child who has been WELL potty trained and has been for 2 years and there is very little to no bed wetting. But this seems to be escalating!!! WTF do I do to stop this??? I'm a girl so I wanted to put this off as a "boy" thing but......I AM AT MY WIT'S END!!!

My son was peeing in his garbage can, water bottles that he hid in his room, so we sat down with him and discussed the issue of his peeing, he said he "couldn't make it to the bathroom in the basement (our only bathroom currently), but let him know that he needed to use the bathroom not other places and as he has gotten older, the less he pees in strange places. Good Luck!

have him checked for juvenile diabetes.. this could be a sign! this happened to my neighbour she tried everything to stop him from peeing in inappropriate places all of a sudden.... he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital thats when they found out it was not his ADHD causing the behaviour

My son is nine and he urinates into my radiators. It has not happened for a year or so, but last week he got mad at me for putting him on punishment and went right into his room, turn to the radiator and peed. He has ADHD also and I don't know what to do. I am so surprised that there are others doing the same thing, What did the doctors say about this? I know that it is not normal nor is it funny.

I have to admit, it made me giggle a bit on the inside when I read the title simply because I knew exactly what you meant, but it's so frustrating and 'off' that I do my best to keep a sense of humour about it. My guy hasn't done it in a bit...oh, wait...he did pee in the driveway the other day - and was proud of it *sigh* but that was the first time in a long time. And really, in the list of things he has done...peeing outside or on the toilet seat is the least of my concerns - albeit annoying, and really gross at times. I was like you and totally on my last nerve - but then for some reason my attitude just switched, and I try to make it as much of a non-issue as possible - mostly cause the more I got upset, the more he did it - it was an attention grabber...the less I react - the less he does it...

good luck, hun!

So do you think this could be a side effect from ADHD meds. My son is currently on Concerta 54 mg and tenet 1 mg. He has been peeing on his carpet and on clothes and on pretty much anything..once on his one toy and a couple times in the trash can.....I really need to understand why this is happening because i am constantly scolding him for it. and if it is something that he can't help i want to understand.

Hi i have the same issues my son who is now 5 - i never had any toilet training issues and by 3 was fully toilet trained. but now on purpose he will stand in the kitchen and wee in a cup, container.. Ive never heard or seen another child like this.. He wees in the bath sometimes instead of the toilet..sometimes straight on the carpet..And if he pees in a cup he hides it in places under the bed etc. seems to get a thrill out of it.. Ive tried to talk to him about it and he just says he likes doing it...but just wont stop.. Ive tried rewards chats etc but just wont stop...He has been diagnosed with aspergers and adhd. If anyone has any ideas please let me know....and he only does this at home...if anyones has any answers or ideas yo get him to stop please reply at it is unbearable behaviour.. Thank you.

How about a grown man urinating in a jar purposely by his bed every night and wiping the droppings on the side of his underwear... Yes he urinates, then takes his hand and wipe them on his under wear... Wait then he reaches at the top of the bed and grabs the water bottle and drink water... Every two hours he's urinating in that bottle again.. He had the nerve to come to my house to spend the night and bring a new jar for my house.... Just lazy and nasty...

My adhd son has only done this a couple of times at home........once in the dryer (luckily no clothes in it). However...when at daycare him and the daycare providers 3 year old would count to 3 and pee on each other.......they havent had this issue in quite a while, i think its under control. I did nothing to stop it....just didnt draw a lot of attention to what he was doing and he forgot about doing it I guess.

hi loren!

i totally relate to your confusion! my 6yr old does that too!!! in really weird and innappropriate places and we just want to sit down and cry each time we see a new spot! i asked our pediatrician about it and he said it's from the impulse control problems associated with ADHD. We are in the middle of diagnosis with our son- and im hoping that with treament (they've already reccommended meds) the problem will stop..

Good luck with your little man- but just be reassured that you're not alone in this. On a different conversation a while ago- we mums were talking about this same phenomenon, and trust me- it happens quite alot!

One of my son's peed in weird places while sleep walking but not while away. I would suggest a talk with the pediatrician. There may be an underlying cause. You may also want to research side effects (the not so common ones) of any medications he's taking. Good luck and God bless.
