Hello Ladies,

In Irene’s absence – here is today’s post. Hope this will encourage a good response from all of you and get you talking to each other!

Sometimes trying to lose weight can be really difficult or frustrating and that’s when we need a “weight loss buddy” to turn to:

• Someone who will remind us why we are doing this!

• Someone who will help us stay motivated and committed to our weight loss plan.

• Someone that can give us the support/encouragement to carry on when we’re having a bad day/week and who will be our cheering squad during the good times!

Yes – family, friends or your partner can help but the only person that can understand what you are going through is a weight loss buddy in the same position as you.

The best weight loss buddy is someone that has a similar experiences and struggles to yours.

For instance – my “buddy” would be someone that is a new mum that is staying home with the baby and hardly ever gets any time to herself - as a result she can’t go to keep fit classes or the gym. There would be little benefit in pairing off with someone that works full time and hits the gym every night on her way home from work as our day to day challenges would differ.

It has to be someone that has similar weight loss goals as well so that you can set each other targets, tasks and rewards.

Just having someone that can listen without judgement on a one to one basis can be a big help. They also have to kick your butt (metaphorically) when you are sabotaging yourself or threatening to give up!

If you live in the same area or time zones – you can chat to each in real time instead of posting or even give each other a call instead of reaching for that snack!

The worst thing that can happen is that you can make a new friend and please remember that it is not a competition about who can lose the most amount of weight in the shortest space of time - it is about helping you to meet YOUR OWN PERSONAL goals!!

Take care of yourselves and keep up the good work!

I can't help much with the cardio at home but as for diet suggestions I really enjoy using the recipes from the Joy's Life Diet book. I am not much of a cook but the recipes in her book are fairly easy and I just double things if I am making dinner for my husband also. Good luck.

I am a working mom of a 13 mth old whose days are long.   I don't have the time to hit the gym before work in the morning because I have baby to drop at daycare, and if I go in the evening, my daughter is asleep by the time I get home.  Looking for someone to help with diet suggestions and cardio at home solutions.

I am happy to be a buddy for anyone that needs one. I live in the UK so may not be contactable on the phone for those that are having a "snack attack" but I am happy to chat to people in real time on Face Book. If you are in need of a "buddy" just send me a "friend request" on my face book page and I will be happy to add you.

Not sure if this is the place - but I am in need of a buddy. I need a buddy like myself, and I can be a buddy to someone who is going through the same

I need a buddy who understands/or is going through chronic pain, and the difficulty in moving/functioning on a daily basis. I need a buddy who is a mom, and understands the difficulty in accomplishing a getting healthier goal with a family in tow.

If anyone is willing...let me know.

Jenni- I've been attempting the breastfeeding thing but he wont latch very well. I've tried consultants and everything. But thats another story. So now I'm trying pumping (but I don't know how long hats gonna last). Will that still help with the weight loss? And as far as healthy eating habits go I kinda don't have a choice. My husband only eats chicken and turkey and we rarely ever bring sweets into the house outside of an occasional pack of cookies. And since doing weight watchers before I replace sweets with fruit mostly. I rarely eat beef and we don't even by pork. Well I hope that you'll be able to get back on the wagon. And if I can help support you in any way feel free to reach out.

Regina - If you are breast feeding you may have a quicker way to loose the weight than we do. = ) My suggestion, if you are breast feeding and loosing the weight, still make healthy choices. I lost a lot of weight when I was breast feeding but as soon as I stopped and didn't have healthy eating habits I put that weight right back on.

I really like the idea of having a buddy and possibly someone that I can become "friends" with so we can chat live. I am a working mother of two (a 3 year old and an 8 month old) I don't hit the gym as I say I don't have time (ok so I don't make the time and I'm not willing to pay a membership fee and then only go for a short time - done that too many times). I am currently using the Joy's Life Diet as my tool for weight loss. My husband is supportive though he also likes to eat those things which I shouldn't (like pizza or cake). I too like the support of this group as in my weaker moments I think about a post I would like to write and even if I never get around to writing something just the thought gave me strength. I would like someone who is typically available in the evenings which is when I have time to get on the computer and also when I have the majority of my cravings (though those are decreasing) If interested please invite me to be a friend. = )

I would love a buddy but all of my mom friends have lost thier weight so I only have this blog to help me out and it is a help

Right now for me, reading these blog conversations is motivating. But not keeping me accountable! Also, the Wii Fit tracks progress and speaks back with a computerized voice!
