Ladies,
I REALLY need your help here. I LOVE Easter candy like no other candy during the year. I don't know what it is about cadberry(SP) but I love it. I have been doing really well avoiding all the candy stuff in the stores though trust and believe that I notice where it's all at. So like I said, doing well... Then I get home tonight and my father has sent us this beautiful, and I'm sure somewhat pricey package of all this chocolate items. It looks so good. I find I'm having thoughts of I'll just open the basket to see exactly what is in there, I'll be able to eat little bits at a time, etc. Though if I am truthful with myself I want to dig into that basket and begin inhaling the chocolate. I know I should just send it to work with my husband but I would feel so bad that my dad bought this for us (not knowing I've changed my lifestyle) and it looks so good. It is currently sitting on our dinner table so of course I see it every time I walk through the kitchen. I really need your help to be strong. I know what I should do but I can't imagine not having any of the chocolate and letting someone else enjoy all those things that my dad got for my family (including me). AHHHHHHH Help me please.

Guilt is enemy #1! You are trying to do something very powerful for your body and mind by changing how you see yourself, how you eat and how you exercise. Feeling guilty about not enjoying this gift (and any other food gift) is part of how we all railroad our hard work and efforts. Just think about how much worse you would feel if you dove right in and consumed every morsel of yummy goodness in that basket? It is never ever just one bite - I am the type of person to bake another batch of cookies because I ate too many while they were cooling (to hide the evidence). I truly believe that you did the right thing by giving the basket as a donation for an auction. Let someone else enjoy the sweets. If you truly need some chocolate, go and get ONE Cadbury egg at the corner store, and eat it guilt free. Be strong Jenni!

Well I had my husband take it to school for an auction item donation. It still somewhat bothers me that my father paid good money for the gift basket yet I turned around and gave it away without really appreciating the gift, but I suppose it's the thought that should matter most.

Just remember, you have put this much thought into it compared to before, that right there is proof you can be strong! I have faith in you. Maybe there is some chocolate in there you can freeze and enjoy bits at a time for a longer period than just the holiday season!! In moderation and healthier than eating it in one sitting! You can do it!!! Just look forward to those smaller pants, or the feeling of being fit and healthy out on the dance floor!!!
