PLEASE NOTE BELOW!!

I have just ring McDonalds in Riccarton and Hornby branches in CHCH and it is the first they have ever heard of it. There are no fries being dipped in milk to enhance the flavour. They have their fries made my McCains down south specifically for McDonalds, and they are made in canola oil, and nothing is done to them between the making of them and the selling to the customer. Ring your local McDonald's yourself to verify this information.

Where did you get this information from???

mcdonalds and wendys fries and nuggets have milk. burger kings fries are cooked all by their self ... it is the only place that does this. all the other places have the offchance of cross contamination due to fried in the same oil.

They do tell you. Its right on their web site, which someone kindly posted a link to above. The fries aren't soaked in milk, though. They are flavored with a beef flavoring that has milk and soy derivatives in the starter. My son has many severe allergies, two of which are to dairy and soy. (And I never went to McDonalds before his allergies). We go about three times a month now (drive through is safer for him) when we are out and about and the meals I packed have already been eaten (he eats up to six MEALS a day and snacks! Is this normal?????) He gets a hamburger happy meal, no bun, plain, pickles only, with french fries and apple juice box, and I say that its important because of food allergies. I always double check the meat patty to make sure they did the order right. But it works well for us. He's had no reactions. We'll also go through the drive through on our way to a restaurant because we haven't had good luck with plain hamburger patties at regular restaurants even with long conversations and helpful staff. My point, I guess, was that as parents different things (that I would've never done previous to having a food allergic kid) work for different kids. Trust your child, trust yourself... Be safe. :)

From everyone's posts, I believe it just depends on the extent of each individual's allergic reaction to the allergen. My 4 yr old has a mild milk allergy and he can safely eat products in moderation. My almost 2 yr old can not have any thing with dairy. Just praying for the day he hopefully outgrows the allergy(s) and then he can enjoy McD's fries with big brother... :)

http://nutrition.mcdonalds.com/nutrition... all ingredients are listed, and I believe them because practically everything is full of milk, wheat, and egg. My daughter so far has no food allergies but my roommate and her 2 kids are allergic to gluten and cow (dairy or meat) so I try to keep up. It's too bad they can't just make french fries out of potatoes, veg oil and salt.

Thanks for the warning! I havent them more than a coke pop there since discovering their allergies, but I had been told once that the fries were safe....guess not!

And their chicken nuggets have dairy in them as well! I checked their website, and they (as well as burger king) have all the major allergines listed for all foods on their website. Though they probably cook everything on the same grill/fryer, so probably not much is truly dairy-free there.

Thanks for the info i never would have guessed. My little girl breaks out in hives when ever any milk product touches her skin. She has never had a reaction to the fries from Mickey D's but I'll be sure to keep a look out from now on.

That is true! Milk/Whey powder... We have decided to not ever give our 1 yr old any fast foods. Beware of hidden ingredients. Our ped nurse gave me the info as well.

Thanks for the heads up! I never knew that and milk is my daughter's #1 enemy! That makes me think back to when we've gone before and she felt sick after eating McDonald's (as well as myself who is also sensitized to milk-THANKYOU!)
