Hello all, I am new to this site and am hoping for some help. We delivered our beautiful baby boy on June 28, 2011, and had known since 20 weeks that his right foot was clubbed. He was casted at 2 weeks old and only needed 2 casts, the doctors then suggested that it was just positional so sent us home for a month without casts or boots/bar. When we went back after a month, they determined that we had to start all over and our boy was casted again for 2 weeks and then put into markell boots with a bar. He adjusted quite well to the boots, the first night was horrific with bouts of crying and frustration, after the first night, it was a pretty good transition. We take the boots off for an hour at night to bath and play and then he generally falls asleep when we put the boots back on him. After about 3 weeks he started waking and crying throughout the night (and up until now he was sleeping from about 10 pm to 6 am without waking). On Friday morning we noticed he had a blister on his non-clubbed foot that had popped, we knew there was one forming and had put duoderm on it (as advised by our doctor). The blister had finally come to a head and popped. Using our own parental discrection we left the boot off for the day, keeping the clubbed foot boot on, and put the boots on Friday night before bed, it was horrific and he cried most of the night. We then again decided that we would leave the boot off for the weekend to give the blister time to heal. Does anyone have any advice on how to heal the blister so we can put the other boot and bar back on? I don't want to leave it off too long. The blister is now dry and crusty, I'm not sure if we should attempt the boot again or leave it until it's gone completely. Thank you for your help. This has surely been a challenge and it's nice to know that there are other moms out there to talk to.
