Success of treatment and how long does he have to wear brace?

My sweet boy was born with a clubfoot. The right foot was completely turned in. He was in a cast for the first 5 weeks of life, and now he is in the Ponseti brace. we had to take the brace off for two weeks because his little feet weren't quite big enough to fill in the shoe so it rubbed a blister on his heel. so we needed to heal his skin and his foot already started turning back a little ( he will be 10 weeks old on Sunday)

I was just wondering if anyone else has been through this. My concern is will he do all the things "normal" babies do, when they are supposed to do it like crawl and walk??

Your situation sounds just like mine. I realize you posted a long time ago now. My son had a cast for 5 weeks and then moved to a brace. He's 10 months old and on his second brace. I don't know what to do about shoes though. Does the brace go inside a shoe and buy two sizes? Thanks.

My daughter had 9 weeks of casting and surgery. She has braces and bar now. She just started crawling and is 9 months (adjusted age due to her prematurity). She had trouble getting her foot out from under her when she was started crawling. She isn't walking but in her braces she can put weight on her feet. She can't put weight without because it goes to the outer part of the foot. She will get fitted for new braces that will go inside her shoes in late June. That's the plan. However, she is tight and my need casting again and that may change things.

My baby was in a cast for 3 months after birth, & he was in the brace for 6 months after that. He didn't have an extreme case, compared to some of the other babies I've seen on here. He crawled at 8 months, & walked at 13 months. I think both were a little late compared to babies in my family, but that's just my opinion. After he came out of his casts, I only put him in high top shoes, because when he wore low tops his foot seemed to turn in. I did that for a year and a half (even through most of the summer, my poor baby!) & his foot looks great. No tightening or anything like that. Unfortunately, he has a scar from one of the casts on his ankle, & as a result of being in the casts so long his feet are 2 different sizes, but those are the only lasting effects he has. We've definitely been blessed, because I know it could've been much worse.
