Hello all! name is nicole... My daughter was born this past may with bilateral club foot. She went through casting (from 2 days of age), had the heel cord surgery, shoes, and more casting! Nothing worked! turns out she has arthrogryposis in her legs and feet!! so, they keep turning back! her legs are very stiff, she can't move her ankles, and her feet are still turned in. They plan on doing surgery at about 10 months of age. I'm just wondering, if anyone else has been through this? or if, her ankles will EVER move, with PT... She's in PT now, but i still worry about her being able to walk. Although doctors say she should?

My daughter had the same problem - also castings for 3 months, a tanotamy (hell cord surgery), shoes, more shoes and more castings.... nothing really helped until we left the non-invasive way of treatment. We had the operation where they basically remove the heal from the bone and lengthen all the tendons... (will need to look for the medical terminology) - we love our doctor and would recommend him to anybody. Where do you live? what treatment method are you currently using?

Hi Nicole, please go to another doctor that's had more experience in the method, I've been told by Ponseti doctors that they have managed to correct arthrogryposis clubfoot without surgery - it does take a little longer than the standard clubfoot but it can be done. There are doctors who can help you. Email Dr Jose Morcuende in Iowa for advice, jose-morcuende@uiowa.edu
