Our son was born with bi-lateral clubfeet and has been such a trooper through his process: casts weekly until he was six weeks old, shoes & bar 24/7 until 3 months and until last week, shoes on for bedtime without a hitch. Well, he turns two tomorrow and has given up everything at the same time: milk, seat attached to the table, sitting in a stroller, holding hands while crossing the street (i swoop him up and dash across!)...and now he screams and cries when we put his shoes on for bed. Last night he cried and screamed for two hours...we took turns going in and trying to comfort him. Nothing worked. Truth be told, my husband took his shoes off at 11pm (the latest he has ever been up!) and after a few minutes if whimpering he was fast asleep.
Gonna put a call in to Shriner's for some advice, but in my experience, it is other families that are dealing with the same story who have the most inspiring and practical advice. Obviously, we need to figure out a new bed time routine...how his six year old brother slept through last night, i do not know! (they share a room.)
Please share any and all thoughts, ideas, and reccomendations.
Thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Renée
