Hi, This is my first post :-)
I have an 8 month old bi-racial daughter and her hair is super curly on the top of her head and pin straight on the sides. She had cradle cap really bad on the sides of her head when she was smaller and my Pedi recommended combing it out. When I did so she lost a lot of hair on the sides :(
Is new hair growth the reason it came back in straight?

yes, i suggest since she's losing hair and it's so fine don't try combing it out, the hair texture will probably change as she gets older.

I am 38 and have super curly hair on the back of my head and pin straight on the sides. It has always been that way, it gave my mom real problems trying to do something with it when I was a kid! Sometimes hair just is that way....

when my daughter was a baby her hair started to curl around 6mths the hair on top of her head was curly and much longer. the sides and back were shorter and straight for quite a while, but as her hair grew out becoming more even it started to curl as well.
The texture of my sons hair is a lot different his seems to be more curly in the back and on the sides and straighter on top and he is 1 1/2. both of my kids are 50% white and 50% black
I'm not sure if new hair growth could cause your daughters hair to stay straight, but maybe as her hair grows out it will become curly.
