Should bi-racial people be considered a race….???
Technically we are all “Mixed” im look black, but I have native American, and European in my blood…
Im talking kids like our own, and some of you mothers…are bi-racial…Half and Half….
Would you want to be considered a Race, such as Black, White, Hispanic…ect

i think it should be. there are wayyyyyy too many biracial people for it not to be. on a lot of forms i have been seeing a mixed race check box or an other check box in the race question.

i think bi racial is not one race its two races combined more then two is mult i race. say for example if a parent is black and white and the other is asian and black and there baby will be multi race.

I think it should be. I think when you or your child is mixed with more then one race no race should be left out. I look at it as not being very fair, because say you child is half white / half black they have to choose and leave out a part of them in a way.

I don't know? It has benefits when it comes down to paper work and for people to not have to pick one race, My child would have a difficult time since my husband is mixed white/Korean and I am black with a 1/4 white so they will be multi-racial or tri-racial. But like some others said, it would be just another box to place people in.

I myself am not mixed, but my daughter is. I'm 100% white and my fiance is black/hispanic, my daughter looks white, she has the same skin tone as me but i consider her "tri-racial" (Technically no such thing, i know). But i don't feel right leaving any of her "races" out, because i see it as she is what she is and she's beautiful that way :)

African Americans and "white" Americans are not just one "race." We as Americans are all mixed. Being half something is really not too special in todays world. Your child will fit in just fine and have friends just like them. All kids are 50% of each parent. But culturally some people chose to identify with one race and thats their personal decision. Doesn't mean they don't like their other half, third, or quarter. Race is just cultural and social.

We don't need any more races as is, I think what's out there is too many as it is. We are all People!

I think that bi-racial or mixed should be a race. When you have mixed children they are not just one race.

Really,Bi-racial could mean really anything, so can mixed most people just unify that with people who are mixed black and white.I'm teaching my children that they are American first but their heritage is Euro-African American, I like how it sounds nicer than a broad generalization.

Bi-racial would just add to the labels to dehumanize us. I am full Korean, my husband is White (German background and last name). Our children look mixed, sort of Mexican. They use which ever race will give them the most benefit at the time. If they are applying for college, if a minority standing would benefit them, they put Korean down as the race. If they are applying for something that the "white" race would benefit them that is what they choose.

Unfortunately bi racial, white, black, asian, they are all titles put on us by "other" people. We are all humans. We are all people. Who cares what race! When people see my name, they are expecting to see a brawny, blond haired woman. They are surprised to see a small, petite asian woman. Would it prejudice someone if they knew my race before they knew me? Bi-racial would that be positive or negative? It would depend on who you might be talking too. Half breed, doesn't sound too great, isn't that another word for bi-racial? I prefer to judge a person by their heart rather than by their race. Get rid of ALL labels, let's not add to them. Wouldn't you agree? In my opinion the world would be a better place if we got rid of all labels.

Bi-racial is simply an easier way to state "More than one race." My oldest child and newest baby are bi racial and honestly I just want them to be considered a person. I think it is wrong to even have a race put on a birth certificate if you have to only pick one. Example: My daughter was born in FL and her birth certificate states that she is Hispanic, Native American and Caucasian. However my newest baby was just born in AZ and I was told that he would be listed as African American ONLY on his birth certificate because the state has such a low population of it and it's for census reasons. Hmmm... yes his daddy is black but I am white so he is both...why does anyone have to pick just one?

Bi-Racial is a separte RACE a people with a seperate identity than other races. I am Black my husband is White our three beautiful children are neither entirely but 50% of both. They are unique and seperate than either of our races and racial norms. I have found(since they are teens now) that providing them the space and acceptance in having their own identity has helped each adjust to the world more easily. BUT, we do live in an extremely multicultural suburb outside Chicago they have tons of friends of various ethnicities so they accept their reality a lot better.

Nope biracial is not a race they is only 3 races on earth each are conected. Well Asians have huge amounts of african gene in them but they are still asians and native americans have huge amounts of asian genes so on... Everyone is mixed with something anyways but i still think now a days biracial is not a race but people of two or more race.
