When you're using the word as an adjective, "blond" is the more common spelling and can be used for males or females; however, "blonde" can also be used to describe a woman or girl with fair hair.
Blond is a color for wooden furniture or hair , while blonde refers to a light-haired person.

You can spell it both ways. Both spellings are in the dictionary. Like grey and gray. Grey is English and Gray is American English.

Wow! I forgot about this post. My daughter is 2 now & cute as can be. She looks exactly like her Daddy in the face, she has soft curls that can either be loose or tight depending how I style it & brown eyes. She is still very pale but tans really well =) What's funny is we had another child who is almost 7 months old now. He came out looking exactly like his brother, so both our boys are darker with brown hair & our girl is my coloring. Oh & our oldest son has my facial features now too so it's just a cute mix of us!

The thing about slave descended black people is that many of them are part white. My nana for example is about 75% black and the rest is caucasian and asian. She thinks her mother was part native due to some childhood photos she saw. Her mother was adopted by another relative at a young age and raised as their own very hush hush and was very light skinned. My nana looks as light as her mother with black hair even though my great grandfather was fairly dark. My cousin looks like my nana with two middle ground brown parents. Her mother was creole. I look like any middle ground mixed kid. My brother came out with pale brown curls that were almost dirty blonde and were mixed kid curly, but at puberty his hair went black in texture. Genetics are odd.

Not to mention my kids when they were born my middle daughter looked chinese with straight black hair. My baby girl looked Mexican with straight black hair, and my oldest looked Yellow due to her jaundice lol. Now they look pretty typical but at first they looked so odd.Kids change over time.

My dad is like Will Smith skin complexion and my mom is was super pale. I came out with a light tan and strawberry blonde hair with curls. Now my hair is dark brown but I have Hazel Green eyes. I dont fit the criteria of what a mixed kid should look like. Kids are'nt always going to meet the expectations of what society expects them to look like. Quincy Jones daughter Rashida doesnt look half black.Garcelle Beavais from the Jamie Fox show is a Black haitian woman and her twins look white as white can be. Their are so many biracial people that are white looking. Paula Patton has a half white son and he is super white with blonde hair. It happens. My grand mother dark skinned from the black side of my family had eleven kids. My grandfather is creole mix so he was white looking and all my aunts and uncles range from My complextion to dark brown.

my kids are a mix. My husband himself is biracial with dirty blonde ringlets, dark gray eyes, and skin thats kind of like that guy on greys anatomy (Jesse Williams?). His father side are all Scandinavian, with really pale skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes. I'm from an all irish family. My mother and brother are very fair with red hair, freckles, blue eyes, stereotypical irish. me and my dad are what my grand father calls "black irish" (sorry if thats an outdated term or offensive. thats just what he calls us) because with both have dark brown curly hair, dark eyes, and skin that tans surprising well.

So my first daughter came out looking pretty much how we expected. Brown curls, brown eyes, tan skin. My son came out extremely fair, with a ton of freckles, blue eyes and really fine reddish blonde hair (My husband jokingly asked if I'd cheated on him). My next daughter came out looking exactly like my mother in law, dark skin (It's even a few shades darker than my husband) really dark eyes, and really tight black curls.

Its really funny. I'll be walking around with all my kids and people will look at my first daughter, who is obviously my child, then they will see my freckled red head son and my dark skinned daughter and they'll be like "So you had your own then adopted?"

Welcome to the club of Surprise. I am african american and my husband is white with brown hair. Our daughter arrived with blond hair, blue eyes and pale skin. I was speechless when she popped out. LOL I remember checking her ears and fingers to see if any color was going to come later and when I got home my grandma did the same thing. Anyway she to the common eye looks white and however she has my nose which gives away that she is mixed with something.

She is absolutely adorable.

I'm biracial and my children are 3/4ths white. My son looks caucasian with blond curls and my daughter looks like me. I had a man in Walmart ask if my son was mine. lol, Genetics are a funny thing. You may think you know your husband's ancestry, but without a heritage DNA test you really don't. My DNA test came back with the right racial proportions and my nana's were interesting because she was light skinned and we know about our family ancestry enough to know what our family's slave owner's names were on my great grandpa's side and that we have their blood in our line and probably more on my nana's mother's side since she was light skinned too. Anyways, my son also has hazel eyes. They have a deep blue outer ring, a greenish yellow middle ring, and a brown center ring. My husband and I have brown eyes. My daughter has deeper brown eyes than anyone in my family, but her father had aqua greenish blue eyes! On another note, my husband knew he was german, greek, and colonial american. His heritage test surprisingly turned up .2% Sudanese, .2% Jamaican, and .4% Egyptian which means WAAAAAY back in his line some people probably migrated from those areas to turkey then greece. lol. So you never know what DNA secrets your ancient ancestors left you. I, for one, don't know a single blonde ancestor on either side of my family, but recessive traits have a way of popping up at any time in lines and I have a good amount of Finnish, Norwegian, and Swedish DNA among many other european countries.... ;)

My son has dirty blonde hair and crystal blue eyes with skin color of say Kris Humphreys or Nalah (Halle's daughter) or Kendra and Hanks son... it's not so uncommon. It took him forever to get a tiny bit of color and still just "tans" but no one questions he is of mixed race... they assume he is... believe it or not it is when we travel "North" people start to act a little crazy. To me, it seems everyone calls themselves "white" these days. Petitioning the government for whole groups of people to be called white (many Middle Eastern ethnicities - check it out it's true). Here in the Dallas area, my husband cracks up at forms we complete (medical or census) that have "Caucasion - non white" on the form because so many ethnicities even 40 years ago would never have been considered "white" are now just that... I mean really what is a Caucasion non white anyway... My opinion... Just be proud of who you are period. Who cares what race or ethnicity you are... own it and be proud of it... whatever it is... Love yourself! I did not choose my husband because he was white... I chose him because he is a good, Christian man. Our children will come out in all different shades... it can happen... and it will. Embrace it all. (disclaimer: spelling on this tiny machine.. and my long rant... smile)

My daughter was born with black, straight hair and white skin. By the time she was six months old, her straight hair had been replaced with blonde curls, and her eyes had turned green. She inherited the maternal narrow nose but the paternal almond-shaped eyes and is very pretty. Her color never has come in so many folks consider her white. However, the few anthropologists I know can tell by her bone structure that she is part black. She personally bemoans the fact that she has a well-developed gluteus maximus, ie. the "black" butt. However, the boys certainly appreciate it.

Our son, OTOH, was born with equally straight black hair and white skin. Over time his color came in so he is a lovely caramel color and his hair turned dark brown and nappy. His eyes are brown and he inherited paternal facial features so no one questions whether he is black or not.

I have met other biracial kids (black/white) who are red-heads with freckles, so it happens.

I am black/Japanese mixed, my husband is white. We have two daughters and one came out obviously mixed but relatively fair. She tans beautifully during the summer months. My second daughter appears white with brown hair and blue eyes. She is now 17 months old and is still porcelain white!! It's all in the genes. They are absolutely beautiful and couldn't imagine anyone more perfect for my family!! I love them to pieces!!

i have that same problem my son who is half mexican was dark when he was born then he lighten up now he is 2 and has his tan back. my daughter was born whiter than me she is 9 months now and is still white, i hope she gets darker. they both have blue eyes, with blonde hair.

Both my kids are mixed with white and black but they look all white .My oldest came out with dark hair but it has changed to a blondish strawberry hair, it is white people texture. She gets darker in the summer but it only looks like a tan. My youngest is extremely white with blue eyes and dark hair. I get questioned by alot of people asking me if I am sure my kids are mixed, but when they see their daddy they can tell because they look just like him. It is possible to make a blonde hair blue eyed baby, my friends daughter is nine and she is also mixed and has blonde kinky hair with blue eyes. Gentics is a topic that nobody will ever understand children come out different. I was told by my doctor that lack of vitamin d while is was pregnant could cause a childs skin pigment to become pale.

I have always been questioned by strangers as to whether he was my child, and his friends at school think they have the wrong house when they knock on the door and I answer. My ex-husband (his father) is white and has the exact same hair color and texture. Both of my parents were of a multi-racial background including French, Irish, German, Polish, and Native American, and the rest approx 50% Black, and though I have medium skin tone, I'm frequently asked what race I am. My older son however is tan with jet black hair and looks Puerto Rican. No one believes that my kids are siblings. I had to call my kids' school less than a week ago because they had my younger son listed as Caucasian, while my older son was listed as afro-american, even though I checked the same boxes when I enrolled them both. Yes, I have a gorgeeous little blond haired, fair-skinned daughter with green eyes! Her father was African-American and Sioux. She is now 17 months and her hair has seemed to get lighter to our surprise! I had a few funny comments like you, but since her father is not in the picture, most people just assume she is Caucasian. The magic of genes...never ceases to amaze me!

YEA, MY SON IS NOT TECHNICALLY BIRACIAL, BUT HE IS MIXED WITH IRISH WHITE (ME) AND HIS DAD IS PUERTORICAN (DAD). TO MY SURPRISE, MY SON ALSO CAME OUT WITH BLOND HAIR AND NOW HAS BRIGHT BLUE EYES. ALTHOUGH I REALIZED THAT SPANISH PEOPLE HAVE A LOT OF MIXED GENES AND SINCE I AM ALL RECESSIVE IT WASN'T THAT UNUSUAL THAT HIS LIGHTHER NON EXPRESSED GENES WOULD LINK UP WITH MINE, PRODUCING A LIGHTER CHILD. ONCE MY CHILD GOT IN THE SUN, HIS SKIN TANNED BEAUTIFULLY WITHOUT BURNING. I WAS SURPRISED HE TANNED SO QUICK WITHOUT BURNING CONSIDERING HOW PALE HE WAS BEFORE THE SUN EXPOSURE. I have four daughters. I am "white" while the fathers are "black" (my first two daughters are from my previous marriage and my twins are from my current boyfriend). My oldest daughter is the only child that people believe are mixed. They believe the rest of my children are white. My second child is blonde with blue eyes and light skin. Her nose is a bit wider. My twins, though only 3 months old, are fair skinned with blue eyes. One has very little hair that is lighter in color while the other had a little bit of hair that is brown, mainly straight is some slight curl on the top. I was very surprised because when you look at my two oldest daughters' older sister, she looks more black than mixed.

I don't have any children with blond hair and doubt I will jsut because my family has dark hair. My kids are very different colors though. My oldest is a little tan. My baby is darker about the same color as my husband's chest and back if not darker than that. He's not as dark as my husband''s face but like I said possibly a little darker than my husband's chest and back

People who make those comments like the guy at your hubbys job, are ignorant. When any two people make a baby it's almost impossible to guess what they'll look like for sure! Sometimes the dominant gene isn't the one that sticks. Myself, my son is pretty fair considering how dark his father is, but has a tan, dark eyes and dark brown hair (his dad's fijian), but my friends son is blond hair, blue eyes! And his dad is cantonese, native indian, and a wee bit irish somewhere. He was born black hair, it fell out and went blond, he's 3 and still has blond hair and blue eyes like his beautiful mommy, but his dad's nose and eye shape! I'm sorry that you're worried, but u just need to keep in mind that your child is beautiful and healthy, and is loved.

Well you can have your husband tell that guy at work to kick rocks, because yes he can make a blond haired blue eyed baby. It's all genetics my dear and they can pick up from generations ago. I my self have bright grey eyes, and both my parents have brown eyes as a matter of fact the only one in my family who has the same color eyes was my great great great grandfather....lol!!! I have posted many times on this subject all 4 of my kids have different skin color, hair color, and texture if you click on my pics you will see. My 9 yr old Malcolm is the lightest of all my kids when he was born he looked like he was just whie. He was bald until he was about 1 yrs old and then he got a full head of reddish blond curly hair my hair color is black, but my father was a true red head! Kids can take bits and pieces from anyone in either of your families, so dont worry about it. If you get snide comments just smile and say have a blessed day! Hope this helps you a little!

Don't worry about it. All of my children look fully European. Although I am East Asian/Asian Pacific Islander.... and their daddy is fully European. My oldest has a very light tan...and their father's facial features . My youngest are quadruplets. The first of the quadruplets has light brown hair a light tan, brown eyes and their fathers facial features.... the second is light tan with bright blue eyes and their father's facial features... the third has more of a tan than the others but shes still light in color...She has brown hair and brown eyes and all of their father's facial features... and the youngest is pale with thick lush black hair and big brown eyes with their dad's facial features. Although they look more like him if were all together you can tell they are mine and that they look a bit like me. So strange. lol

My daughter is 8 and still looks very white. Blondish, brown hair, dark blue eyes, white skin. She tans easily in the summer tho :) My friends used to tease me and say,"Are you sure you didn't get drunk and sleep with a white guy?' lol. When she was born, I asked a nurse if she looked mixed and she said no because they usually have color in the top of their ears or under their nails. Now, some people can tell. Usually, only black people. When I say how nobody else can tell, I was told,"We know our people."

I have a bi-racial girl and she is as white as me and curly blond hair and light green eyes. She doesn't look mixed at all. I have had people say things like she is not my husbands child but the older she got the more she looked like his side of the family. In fact now she looks just like his sister, just white. Don't worry about what other people say it's really none of their business.

I have two children with the same black father. Our oldest looks obviously mixed. She has tan/light brown skin, dark eyes, and thick dark brown curly hair. Our son however has dirty blonde hair with fine, large curls, white skin, and white features. His eyes and face/head shape are that of their father's, but when seen alone with his sister most people assume they don't have the same dad.

My daughter has dark blond hair and very light skin. Her dad is black and I am white with blue eyes and blond hair. Her eyes started out blue, but are now a greenish hazel color. Most people tell me they can tell she mixed, but a few are surprised to find out she is. Most people forget that blond is a recessive gene, so two brown haired people can have a blond kid, but two blonds can not make a brown hair child.

My baby is light skinned as well. He has been light skinned since he was born. When he was born he had a head full of straight back hair... which all soon fell out! He is 1 now and is still light skinned but now he has blond curly hair! Besides his skin and hair color he looks exactly like his daddy! When my son was born one of my best friends questioned me about who his dad was ... needless to say she is no longer my friend! You can tell by looking at him that he is his daddy! I am expecting again here in another month and can't wait to see how my new baby looks!

i have 2 biological girls. one is dark w/ big curls dark hair she is now 21, my youngest (18) is golden shirley temple curls and fair skinned. Where I'm from people do not see the black in her. her father is afro-american & has some indian too. more or less....I'm just white fair skin brown hair & eyes. Both girls have learned to accept what god has chosen to be their color and realize that it isn't what you or I think or any one else. They learned to just be theirselves & not say anything to anyone unless asked. Now don't get me wrong. We have been with their step-father for 17 years and if you use the "N-bomb" around them they set off. But also they know their heritage and are not ashamed to be still yet children of God!!

My sisters and I are bi-racial. all of our first kids came out dark, as we had more each set came out lighter. We took all the cousins to have there pictures taken together and of course the photographer thaught all the darker children were sisters and brothers and the lighter ones where sisters and brothers. My son was my skin color, but when my daughter was born she came out very fair skinned and blond hair like her father. So I guess you never know how the genetics will work!

This is not uncommon. It's a matter of what's in your genes - not necessarily your own looks. I have a girlfriend who is mixed but favors her brazilian father ( darker skin & naturally curly dark hair) rather than her fair skinned & blond mother. Her husband has dark hair as well & is olive complected & their daughter came out looking more like the Mom, but with the MIL's fair skin, light eyes & blond hair. She gets the crazy/ignorant "is that your child" comments all the time.

I was actually getting out of the car today at this store with my husband. We were packing the babies (our 16 month old and newborn) up in the double stroller, these two skanky girls walk by and loud as hell say, "I wonder if both kids have the same dad". As if the man lifting them out of the car and giving them kisses isn't their father...wtf?!

My son is half white and half black, his dad isn't light, and he doesn';t have blonde hair but red hair and it's straight and like white people hair. He has dark brown eyes and his dad's face. People have asked me all kind of rude questions about if I'm sure who the father is, why is he so pale, why does he look like he does. It's irritating and very incosiderate of people to ask that because no one would ever say that about a fully white or fully black baby but I just try and ignore it.

When my baby was born, many people made comments that he was a white mans baby. My husband often joked before my son got his color in that if he didn't look so much like him he would wonder. :) Don't worry about what people say. With mixed babies you don't know what your gonna get. You are pulling two totally different set of genes and it can be different with each child. I was blessed enough to have a doc. to explain this to me. Each child could "look" mixed, white, or black. Remember when you got with your husband you didn't see color and although its hard with societies view try not to start now. Stay strong, these are tough issues that we are faced with daily and its tough, but God has a special plan for our children because they can reach people of all races and walks of life bc of their struggles that you or I could not connect with. What a blessing!

My oldest has blond hair. He didnt when he was first born, i thought he would have brown hair but as he got older it got blonder. He has brown eyes though, im blond with blue eyes myself. My second started off with what seemed to be blue eyes but eventually turned a hazel green, he has brown hair. They are both mixed with mexican, both dads are pretty dark but im sure your husband is darker complected. It happens, your genes were more dominant with your daughter. She could still change since shes so young, eyes they say arent permanent until 9mo to 1 year, sometimes longer then that. But you can most def have a baby with blond hair or blue eyes and be mixed with black, especially since hes not full blood himself. Your in my shoes where people make snotty remarks that its not your husbands child, its not a funny joke even though thats what they call it. I think its just rude. Shrug it off even though its beyond annoying.
