I know this is an old post but my husband is Ghanian. We are from Seattle Washington, USA. My baby coming in Sept will be half Ghanian. Would be great to have a forum on here that is active. or a FB group?

Old post I know...but I have 3 children (2 boys & 1 Girl) with my Ghanaian husband. We were lucky enough to visit Ghana a couple of years ago as a family. Stayed mainly in Accra, Kumasi and Obuasi. We live in Canada.

My daughter is getting darker sort of but she looks just like her dad so there is no mistaking her. At least we think so. :) She has very olive skin so technically she did not 'collect my colour' as they say here. I am not olive, I am the white that goes red. :P

hi both my daughters were very light almost white when they were born and got darker as they got older. my eldest was slightly darker at birth and is now darker than her younger sister. but yeah they were both very light at first, my youngest daughter had completely straight hair until about 18months! i thought it was never going to go curly! but now she has a head full of curls! whereas my older daughters hair started to curl at a few weeks old!!

Hi girls
Just wondering if all of your kiddies were born with dark skin, or did they gradually get darker as they got older? Because my daughter looks very white compared to all of your darlings...

Hi Sammy,
How I feel depends on what day it is and I am about to become a working mum and we have moved from the upper east and the family traditional home to the capital, Accra so everything is changing and a little difficult at the moment. I am working through it and my daughter is enjoying being able to watch the Teletubbies. :P
I'd be happy to stay in touch via email if you like and discuss things there. Let me know if you'd like my email.

Hi ladies
My husband is Ghanian and I am Australian, we have a 7 week old daughter.
Sunny you son is absolutely gorgeous!
Lyndal how do you find it living in Ghana? I went there last year for 5 weeks and loved it, but dont know how I would handle it living there (my husband has said he wouldnt mind going back there to live someday).
Jenna you will love Ghana, it really is a lovely place!

I have a daughter who is 7.5 months and we live in Ghana. I am Australian.
I have a community I am creating for mothers raising their children between the two continents if you are interested and are someone who travels between Ghana and wherever - Non-African mums raising their children (bi-racial or otherwise) in Africa.
