I feel you, I live in Boston, Massachusetts and out here there are a lot of rude people, if you live in the city you will get looks because there are not a lot of mixtures out there, but since I live in the suburbs, life has gotten easier, I still get mistaken for the nanny from time to time because a lot of people out here have nannies, so do I, so it can get aggravating, but its people's opinions and let them say what they want, it's how they feel, the only thing that matters is that you don't subject that to your children, and that you keep your head held high ;)

I'm white and my foster mom Is black, she got looks all the time and i realize she isn't my real mom but she is awesome and people shouldn't be judging you. I live In Minnesota and nothing Is shocking here, I never assume anything. I really dislike Ignorant people. I think your family Is beautiful!

I am black and my husband is white (Scottish, Irish, English). My daughter is very pale and most people think she is half white and Japanese. My son is a bit darker and people can tell he is biracial. When my daughter was younger, I was thought to be the nanny or baby sitter or that she was a foster child. I recently got in touch with an old boyfriend on Facebook and he wondered if my husband had cheated and my daughter was the result-LOL!!

My husband is white (scottish and irish) and I have african, native american and scottish ancestry. Our children our blond haired and brown eyes and very fair skinned. You can see pics of them on my profile. I get mistaken as the nanny often. It throws people off when I breastfeed my son in public! lol! They can't figure it out! Oh well!

My husband is caucasian and I am black. We have 2 beautiful girls that look just like him...(or so I am told). We live in South Carolina. I have had people come up to me and tell me the girls are gorgeous and then ask if they are mine. Sometimes I can be in a store with a caucasian friend of mine and people will talk to her when complimenting my daughters....Sometimes it aggrevating...

I am black and hispanic and my husband is caucasian. We live in a town where most folks are in biracial relationships so we did not have much of a problem fitting in. We have two sons from my previous relationship that are dark skinned and our daughter that arrived here as white as my hubby with blue eyes. She is just adorable. When I first brought her out people would follow me around the store as if I kidnapped her one lady got brave and asked who's baby was she. Before I could answer my 10 year old piped up and said "mine" lol the look on the woman's face was priceless.

My husband's Italian, and like many of the Black women I know, I'm of mixed heritage. I love that my husband's Italian! Our families are very similar, being family-centered, big, and fun. Our wedding was an absolute blast!

I am black and my husband is white. We have two young children who both have beautiful light brown skin. My son has a low hair cut so in my opinion, you can't even tell he's bi-racial. People have said before that he looks Hispanic. My daughter is a tad lighter than my son and has fine, but really curly hair. It's been a long time since I've gotten any wierd looks or questions but maybe that's because I'm so busy chasing them around I don't notice people looking at me.

i agree with alot of the previous posts. i'm black and my husband is caucasion from ireland. we have 4 children and i suppose since we lived in ny and now new jersey people are used to mixed raced persons so no one bats an eye. the kids pretty much look hispanic now but as babies a few times people commented that they lloked asian or actually asked me why the were so fair or had such straight hair. i think it's comical.

I've been called the Nanny as well. Wow. People don't have tact anymore do they... I am an African-American married to an Irish/Greek guy. We have 2 beautiful babies well, not so much babies (6&3) and I too have found that our kind of couples are a minority. We are currently living in Bahrain and there is only 2 other couples here like D and I. It's crazy, but the other way around BM/WF there are tons! I think it's cool either way, I love seeing interracial couples! Don't you?

I'm black and my kids dad is mixed (black/Irish). Those Irish have some aweful strong blood! My fiance is white and he has 2 mixed b/w daughters. My babies are way lighter than his daughters and have a sandy colored hair. Luckily, despite the rather light skin, my babies look just like me! Fiance's kids could even pass for mine too! I guess we live in a very diverse area because I haven't gotten any weird stares or comments. Just a lot of people saying how much hair my baby has and how beautiful she is!

im black and my soon to be ex husband is white. Our son looks just like him but with a slight tan and curler hair. My second baby with my boyfriend (who is also white), is very fair skinned with straight brown hair. Neither one of my kids look anything like me but they sure do have my attitude.

I am African American and my husband is German. Our oldest daughter favors me more, and sometimes gets mistaken for Hispanic, while our son is like a mix of us both with light skin, hazel eyes and red hair. Our youngest daughter looks the most like my husband with skin a little darker than his, blond hair and blue eyes. I live in Texas, and I rarely see other couples like us. I think I can count one hand how many I've seen. I've never been mistaken for the nanny, but I have been asked multiple times were they my kids.

I too am married to a white man. We just had our first child, a girl this past july. Most people ask me if my child is mexican, lol. I;m fair-skinned and our daughter is a little lighter than me. I must admit she sometimes, look spanish, asian or black. Babies change so much. My husband and i have received the "look" but what do u expect, the south is still the south, we just laugh it off.

My husband is caucasian and I am african-amercian. I mentioned to him once why our son is two shades darker than him, and ten times lighter than me. I am a darker complexion and can't believe I had a baby sop light! I often am asked if he gets mistaken for hispanic. He doesn't though!

im mulatto and my husband is puerto rican. hes got pasty white skin black hair. i get a good amount of curious looks cause all my kids look different. My daughter looks like me, my oldest son is ghost white and light brown hair and my new baby is white with blue eyes and dark hair. I really get people confused cause i hang out with my mom alot (shes white, blonde hair and bright blue eyes) its just funny to watch people try and figure us all out.

hello, well i'm a black mother and my husband is black and indian and we have a child together that came out looking just like the indians, he's real light skinned, and when I first gave birth to him he had reddish blonde hair!! a lot of people asked me when he was younger was his father white, and i would tell them no, his father is indian and black, but we do share the same similarities and a lot of people don't expect him to be ours because of his complextion, it's amazing how our genes works sometimes, and i have a dark complextion so I can completely understand what u are saying!!!

Eh. I'm East Asian/Asian Pacific Islander and my babies daddy is European. Our children are very light and have wispy light hair and light eyes but they obviously look like ours....one of our sons gets mistaken for white all the time he has very pale skin brown hair and blue eyes. Someone once said "Wow your children are so cute. The little one your sitting looks very cozy with you all." and he looked amazed when I told him he was their brother and they all have the same parents, their father and I. x)

My husband is white. No one has ever said a word about thinking that our daughter was not mine, even though she was very pale at birth and had completely straight hair and gray eyes until she was about 9 months. I think that where I live, Southern California, is a big factor in that. I did get some comments that she looked Asian or Egyptian, but that was by people who knew who that we were her parents and that she is biracial.

My husband is white. My son, Joseph looks like both of us (light skin). Sometimes, he's mistaken for a hispanic child. When Joseph was a baby, people thought that he was asian - due to be straight jet black hair and pale skin.

i am black and my husband is white our daughter is very light she looks just like her dad but has some black features. not much at all though. i have never had any problems like that. people that met me when i was pregnant but didn't know my husband was white asked me after they seen her why she was so light and i would just tell them because my husband was white but other than that no problems. it might be where you live at. i'm in virginia.

I am black and me husband is of German descent .My daughter is very light skinned and when she was newborn well she was white and people mistook me for the nanny a lot.I was even asked with my husband standing next to me 'Is that your baby? i replied 'I give birth to her, so yes she is! I'm always worried that people wont accept our daughter or she will be treated differently. in this day and age it shouldn't matter.

My hubby is Caucasian and I am Black. We have our first child is who is multi-racial. Alot of people ask me if my son is mine or did I adopt him bcuz of his skin color. Now when my son is out with his dad, he doesn't get approached like that. I have more black people coming up to me asking me why is he so light-skinned and does he belong to me.

I am a dark skinned black mommy with a caucasian husband. I found that when my son was an infant people would say "oh and who do we have here"? referring to my son as his appearance was/is significantly lighter than mine. My answer was always David. I would also get wow your husband must be really light. I would say yes he is.

Hi I am a black woman who is married to a caucasion man. In Northern Cali its starting to be more popular. I have seen other couples like my husband and myself alot more in recent years. My BF is black and is married to a white/filipino man (caucasian) and we are happy we have found one another to share our lives together. It does feel like the minority as you mostly see black man with white or mexican woman and kids. But we are definitely out here.

My husband is white and I am German and Black. My little boy has all of his dad's coloring...fair skin, blue eyes, and light brown hair. There are definitely funny looks at times. Since I have darker skin with dark hair and brown eyes and my mom has blond hair and blue eyes I am used to the "looks" from when I grew up. It just makes you realize that those are the people you don't need to waist your time on. It's not worth your energy. Keep your head up!

Hey i have a white boyfriend and at birth everyone thought he was not my son. Whatever mix children can look so different then their parents. I have no idea but it seems to be blacks and asians that have trouble like that. I have friends who have native blood and there never seem to have problems and many do not look native and some do no one ever questions them.

I suppose around here everyone seems to have a nanny (obviously not us though) and I can pass for Latino so too many people assume...I am pretty tough skinned so I don't take it personally although it bothers me how people can be so rude.

i'm a south african cape coloured and my husband is white British, my second son which is our first child together was white at birth and people use to stare at me in the street when I was out in public with him to the point that made me so uncomfortable and I suspect they mistook as the nanny too, cos it came up in conversation once, my other two kids born after him looks more like my tribe at home is very light but not as their brother, but then again he's not so white anymore.dnt make the same mistake I made, be so bothered by peoples reaction that some of the enjoyment of being a mam get affected by it. BTW you're kids are beautiful.x
