I am always amused to see mixed couples and hear how they met. My story is

when I first met my husband he did not speak english at all and I did not speak spanish. He was a customer that use to come in my store all the time, who I thought was very cute, but I knew he did not speak english. I went out and bought a book that had short conversation in it, which translated english to spanish. I would ask him in spanish how he was, where he was from ect. later on I gave him the book, and I did not see him for another week.(I thought I scared him off) but later that week he came in with the book and pointed to a sentance that said: would you like to go to dinner with me? And I said yes. The whole time we were on the date we had to translete threw this book, but here we are 3 and half years later in love and he can speak fluent english and I understand most spanish and speak it very horribly.lol

I am black and white and he is from honduras, we have a 2yr old son together and I have 2 kids from a previous relationship, which he treats like his own. (which is the best of all)

My story is somewhat boring but his and my story all the same. After work a bunch of my coworkers decided to go to midnight bowling. They invited a bunch of people so we ended up having a party of like 30-40 people. I hate bowling, I am naturally clumsy so slick floors/shoes+me= disaster. But a friend convinced me to go. So maybe an hour in to the night everyone noticed i was having a hard time. One particular time I almost fell backwards and someone caught me! No joke the first thing I noticed was his biceps lol. At first I was freaked out cuz i thought it was just some guy trying to get close to me, but i relaxed a little and the whole night he taught me to bowl. We met again the next day for smoothies and we just clicked. Although I was kinda wary of a relationship he never gave up no matter how hard i pushed him away. I am Sicilian (Italian), and Norwegian (dark hair, blue eyes, light skin) and He is Black and Mexican. Our son who is almost 2 has dark hair, blue eyes and bronzy skin. A heartbreaker for sure =)

We are Indians..I was from a proper punjabi family and he was a cut-surd....We met on chatting..blind date...he had NUMEROUS girl-friends at time and i knew of all this. For me it was a nice time pass as I was sure my parents would never allow a love marriage..As time passed and we knew each other he list started getting cutting short at a fast pace...lol. He was quite good looking as compared to me ...we had regional differences...financial differences were quite a lot...educational background..I was on a much better side...but being friends and sort of going around for next 2 yrs made me realise...he was just not that fortunate but was a gem in all ways...He coudln't speak gud english and used to take my help for the same. Never felt disrespected for all that..was humble..down to earth..practical..romantic ;-). He was the only earning member of his family of 5 with all responsibilities on him, household, social, his n sisters education n marriages..all..used to study and work damn hard.

One fine day, I told my parents..they met him twice..and there began all kinds of worst situations and testing periods for us. He never provoked me against my parents and always said..just wait and give me time..I'll reach their expectations..do not rebel..they want the best for you!!

2 BAD years..my parents were dead against but always agreed that they didnt dislike him, just that didnt want me to have a hard life ahead. 5 yrs of struggle..he made his own house..car...started a freelance company ..he was heading the technical rediff.com of our region those days. AT his side, parents had no option but I was absolutely not their choice..was too forward for them:-) I was by his side in all these phases and he was with me. When I just gave up as I was sure not to go against my parents..2 choices- convince or get married as per their wish and he knew that. I always told my parents to promise me that if I dont get along well with their choice of guy in an year of marriage..they would help me get divorced..DIVORCE is a big stain in Indian community, specially in families like ours.

He worked hard..supported me mentally..I faced all for months...cold war for almost 2 yrs at my place...Then finally..suddenly..they call up at my hostel n tell me that 4 days later I was getting engaged to HIM!! We couldn't just believe. Not tried to know why, how, when..I started back..too scared...confused..3 days passed and we both felt, it could be another game...but no we got engaged in a gathering of just 12 in all. Courtship time was much better but not good at all...But within that period he won my parents heart like anything.

We are now married for 6 yrs...been together for 11 yrs..have a 5 yr old daughter..have been together in all responsibilities and toughest of times twice we faced...and I always have 2 prayers in my mind - God bless my girl with a husband like her father. I would wish to be reborn again..again..again..if you promise me the same life partner each time. I love him oh so much.

He's a wonderful Husband..father..son..and an apple of my parent's eyes !!

awww how cute.My husband is Filipino and I am white. My story is I was 18 almost 19 and living with a friend. She always went to clubs but I was afraid to go. Well she talked me into going to a club. I was sitting down on the stadium type seats and I saw this guy walk in and I told my friend I want to dance with him. But I was so shy so I stayed sitting down. about 20 minutes later he came up to me while sitting down and introduced himself and his friend. So I introduced myself and my friend. He asked if I'd like to dance and so we did. I gave him my number and told him to call me at 7:30am (I did this on purpose because if he really wanted a date with me he would call that early). He did call and my friend said it's the guy from the club. I said "what guy". lol. Ever since then we have been together 9 years and married 7 years of those 9 years and we have a 6 year old daughter who will be 7 in September and currently expecting number 2.

Hi. iam Yemeni/Cuban, born in Saudi Arabia, raised in London UK. And my gorgeous baby boy is my mix and his father is Polish/Austrian, born in Poland, raised in London UK from his teenage years onwards.

I'd like to say, regardless of anyones mix/ethnic background: WE ARE ALL GORGEOUS and need to start appreciating life ALOT more: and stop all this nonsense of hatred/racism etc. Because, really and truly, in whos hands is it, for you to be who you are?? Not yours, not mine... no one other then God.

So lets stop this BS and learn to smile more and start appreciate a lot, ALOT more: FOR LIFE IS WAY TOOOOO SHORT OT ENJOY IT TO THE FULLEST" Let alone wasting it on nonsense like hatred and racism...!

It is fun to hear how people met. Im black, native american and white and my husband is white, my children are considered white because of this but they are really black native american european (my husband is german decent and i have french, german, british and irish in me)

[deleted account]

My nationality is American (born and bred); my husband's is also American (naturalized). He actually has dual citizenship, so his other nationality is that of his native country, Taiwan.

Incorrigibly,

Sharon

Hah! We have a similar arrangement. My hubby is half white and black (mother is from Honduras) and I am half white and chinese (my mums scottish and my fathers chinese). My mothers background is Jewish so now my son is Jewish, with a scottish, chinese, honduras and english background. My husband and I met at a cheezy latin american nightclub. He was the only male there that didn't have two left feet. We met through friends of friends that night. My friend was friends with another friend who was friends with my hubby. We haven't been apart since.

Hi Everyone!

Don't we make the world a more colourful and unique place?

My Hubby and I have been together 18 years - we have a beautiful and talented 15 year old daughter and my Hubby has a great boy from his first marriage who is 20.

My Hubby is.......wait for it.....an Indian but Zimbabween born, and now British citizen.....and I am a plain boring white Brit!

Our Daughter has gorgeous light brown skin, amber eyes and dark hair - we say she is so beautiful because she made from 100% love :)

She had to put up with a few racist jibes - your Dad is Bin Laden/owns a shop/terrorist but do you know what she is the most well balanced and caring person I know.

We have not forced her down any religious route - we have told her she can choose - all we will do is guide her. I am Chrsitian and my Hubby is Muslin.

We married on a beach in the Caribbean and had the support of both families. We were getting married whether they liked it or not - and we have never looked back.

I thank Pizza Hut for sending my Hubby to be my new boss - otherwise we would never have met 20 years ago :)

I am white and my husband is Indian from New Delhi. We met when my best friend moved in with his roommate to the college apartment that they shared. Now they aren't together anymore, but we've been together for 5 years! We have a four year old and are expecting another son at the end of June. I've never met anyone I respected more, but it is a big difference in cultures. Luckily we're both devoted to making our marraige a success.

My little 13 month old son, has quite the melting pot of nationalities as both myself and my fiancee are a mix. We live in Australia so some of these natonalities may be unfamiliar.

I am 1/2 Papua New Guinean, 1/2 New Zealander (more specifically 1/8 Maori,1/8 Fijian, 1/16 Irish, 1/16 German, 1/8 Scottish & English). My Son's father is from Ballarat in Victoria, Australia, he is 1/2 Welsh and 1/8 Aboriginal, 1/8 English & 1/4 Greek.

We met through a mutual friend who susequestly did wrong by both of us and I guess mutual anger and empathy brought us closer, we were both recovering from bad break ups and helped the other through as friends. Until that all changed one day and now 4 years later we have a beautiful 13 month little man who is the heir to our amazingly complex family histories and we will do all we can for him to understand who he is and the languages of those we know.

One day he will need to know from where his bloodlines have flown. I hope to by then be able to provide an immense family tree, which I have started for Aisaia (and siblings hopefully one day) that will go back at least 8 generations maybe more.

You are who you are, strengthen your foundations and the rest will fall into place.

I'm Irish, English and 1/16 Native American, but I have always marked white, I met my husband at work...He is I think 3/4 Native American and 1/4 Irish....I know the first time I ever saw he I fell for him. He is the only man I know that can look sexy in a hard hat..He chased me for like 3 months when I finally gave in and we have been together since. We had our little girl in May 09, he has two other daughters with his ex who is completely white...Its funny cause his oldest daughter looks just like him and the Native American in her is so apparent, but the younger girl looks just like her mom and if she even thinks about the sun she gets sun burned...He useta say (before Haiden was born) he had one Indian baby and one white baby..He had to change it because our daughter at 10 mo is even more dark complected than the oldest girl...

I have been with my husband 12 years. We have two son's together. I am German, sweedish, Indian and dutch and my husband is black and white. Not sure of his ancestors back ground and either is he. So our children I gues are considered a quarter black. You can see it in my oldest. He has black color hair and is very dry, and very tanned skin. My youngest looks white with brown hair but hair is not like mine. I get asked all the time what my kids are mixed with. Some times people start speaking spanish to them. I do have a child in between from before we were actually married but split up, his father is Irish.

I say I am Heinz 57 varity brand. I know some of the ethnicities but not all. My oldest is 18 and 1/2 me and 1/2 his gorgeous dad who is 3rd generation Czeck/Slavic mix. He looks and acts just like his dad except for the changling grey-blue eyes that are mine. I met his dad at church he was my youth counselor. We have been together on and off for the last 20 yrs. My younger son is 1/2 me and 1/2 african-american, his dad and I went to school together and then met back up working together many years later but there was no happily ever after for us he was killed 2 weeks into my pregnancy. I told my son's dad his son would have blue eyes but since he died he had the last say and my son has his dad's eyes; his mannerisms, his humor which I miss. He is a beautiful boy and looks very much like his brother because at different ages they do look like me .

My story is a little funny, I have known my hubby since JHS or as some say middle school. He was very tall and very thin and I would not give him the time of day, and he thought that I was the most conceited person in school. I was best friends with his little sister and had no idea that they were related. Then fast forward to the winter of 1992, I have had my first son 7 months earlier and I'm babysitting for a friend, having to get that child from school. I noticed that we had a new security guard in my apartment building that seemed very familar to me. After several weeks of small conversations we realized that we knew each other from school. I asked him out to lunch on June 13, 1993 and we have been together ever since. We now have three children together and my son from another relationship.
