Kinky Curls & Chlorine/ Any Swimmers Out There?

My daughter's sport is swimming. She's in the pool 3 days a week. She wears a cap but the water creeps in. We've tried shampooing, which dries it out, and rinsing with a conditioner, which isn't much help. Her hair is made up of tight curls. Visual reference: an old-timey telephone extension cord but frizzy. On a nonpool day it's difficult to manage but now...

Please, if you have a swimmer with similar hair, please let me know. Would totally appreciate advice and product info. Thanks in advance :)

My daughters a little fish too. I have been using a deep conditioner from Carol's Daughter 1 week (Tui conditioner- smells awesome) I let her sit in a plastic cap while she takes her bath. On swim days I started using Carols Daugher RoseMary Mint Duo Shampoo and Conditioner. Makes a major diffence in her hair. Afterwards I follow it up with Ms Jessies Baby butter cream to give the curls some life. The other suggestion of having her swim in conditioner is a great Idea too.

I know this may sound weird but try pink oil or something with a oil base before she puts the cape on that way the water will slide off the hair. and not soak it up. hope that helps

I'm assuming she wears it natural, Motions Hair CPR is great (and cheap). My daughter is in the pool almost everyday in the summer and beween the chlorine and the sun it's hell on her hair. This is a weekly or bi-weekly deep conditioner that you can put on and leave on for twenty minutes or so, then rinse. Shampoo is very drying so I would only shampoo every two weeks or so, but "wash" her hair with conditioner only a few times a week. The conditioner will moisturize and pull some of the chemicals and stuff off her hair.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. Gonna give them a try. She's really good but this hair thing has her wanting to quit. Poor thing! I can't wait to try them out. Thanks again :)
