I'm pregnant with my first child, due in December. He is mixed white and black. I'm having such a hard time finding a name that isn't "too white" or "too black". Any ideas on mixed baby boy names???

I am biracial mixed with black and white. Saying the name doesn't matter as long as you like it is bs. I had to grow up with the name Elizabeth. I don't look like a typical Elizabeth at all. I was picked on so much growing up. You don't want to put your child through that. My son's name is Noah. I also like Isaiah and Jordan. Hope that helps :)

how does a name belong to a race, I know many black and white boys named David, Michael, Elijah, Joshua, Mark, Matthew, Keenan, Kevin, Samuel, William, John, Jason, and so on, give me an idea of the names you don't want.

when picking names for our son we didn't want names that were obviously one race either. the names we came up with were kristian, jackson, matthew and xavier. we felt like they could be anyone of any race. but at the end of the day if you guys really like a name then don't skip over it because you feel like it's too black or too white

Man...didn't realize I had the wrong name. Mine is Greek and I'm not Greek at all. Seriously, giving your child a name based on their race feels a little like racial pigeonholing. Give your child a name that you like - why does race even factor into it?

Why give them ANY kind of a 'race specific' name??? I can see gender specific (a girl named Samuel or a boy named Jane??) but not race. Just choose what you like/sounds right

Our son is also coloured dad and white mom and we called our little boy Umin my husband came up with the name we did not want a family name or any name we wanted to create our own name so we took the word HUMAN and wich when you say it sound like Humin so we just left the H out and there is his name Umin.Every body that hears his name for the first time say its a very unuasul name.Well thats what we wanted then his second name is my madenname.

I have two boys and a third boy on the way. i am white and hispanic and daddy is black and hispanic. son # 1 is Andreas, and Son #2 is enzo ( dad is a car fanatic) baby number three I am thinking Micha,Nico,Kai, or Elias. not sure where I want to go with this one. A name needs to mean something in My opinion whether it describes a child or the name meaning is important to you I dont think a name can be too white or black it depends on the child.

Go under babynamegenie.com....that will help you figure out a name also. You have to have a first or a middle name and this site will give you ideas on what sounds good with the names you choose. Just go for what you and your family like...don't worry about other people. I named my son after his dad and my mom. Good Luck!!

My son is black/white with Nigerian roots, we named him Jabari which means Brave/Fearless. We had influence from both sides on what we ought to name our child and we choose something that we liked that had a meaning we felt good about.

I think Isiah Michael sounds great!! Personally i'm not for giving kids two middle names its a LOT for them to learn to read and write and doesnt always fit on documents when they get older.. but if your heart leads you to Isiah Kelvin Michael then that's what his name ought to be!! Isiah would have been our daugther Rebecca Lynn' s name had she been a boy, she would have been Isiah James, My eldest two are Luke Paul and Eric David . Their daddy is half black half native american and I'm white.. we chose to go with names that where not distinctly any race but instead followed what we felt for the children. Naming them without regard to the color of their skin, just as we their parents love each other regardless of the skin where' in :)

I have 3 beautiful children and used a biblical name, Naomi - named after great grandma, Kai - not white or black but Asian in origin, and Charlie, named after Grandpa! My advice is to focus on raising good kids who will learn how to give back to society, understand many diverse issues with understanding, and can communicate with people from many different cultural backgrounds! Good luck finding a good mixed baby name!

My son is mixed, black/white and I had the same problem finding a mixed baby boy name. I named my son Jared Thomas. Some of the other names we though of were Jovan, Jeremiah, Jason, Isaac, Gabriel. For a girl, I kinda liked a little more exotic names like Kimari, Alana, Amari, Miranda, etc. Good luck. Let us know what you pick.

Quoting Vicki:

Thank you I love the name Isiah as well. As far as middle names I was thinking Michael after my cousin who I am very close with. The baby's father wants his middle name to be Kelvin after his own father. So i was thinking Isiah Kelvin Michael but I'm not so sure they flow together.

Isiah Kelvin Michael sounds great! Or even Isiah Michael Kelvin!

But it may be a long name! Either way he will be called Isiah most often .. so make sure at least you like the first part of his name.

I went through baby books and online lists of names and noted all the ones i liked.

I ended up with Jayden.

Good Luck.

Mine is named after my next youngest brother - Matt. I really wanted to name him Mason, but my mother said it was a hideous name and she would never call him that. Find what you like and stick to your guns.

You shouldn't think too much about the name sounding black or white. Think more about what you like. My son is bi-racial(black/white). I named him Djuan because I liked it.

Why does a name have to be black or white? Just choose a name you like and your child will be comfortable with. Remember its not just about mom and dad but your child has to live with this name for the rest of his life. I bought a book and went through it and picked out all the names I liked and worked from there.

These days there are a ton of name that cross the racial borders. My son is named after his dad (John) which is typically a white name but I actually know several black John's. My daughter is Layla which I have not found to be associated with any race. I know black, white and mixed Layla's. If you like a name, go for it. Don't worry about what people think because someone will always have something negative to say.

Isiah is a beautiful name. When I was preg. with #1 and asked hubby if he wanted a junior he said no. I had always wanted to name a son after my grandfather so I told my mom and I swear 5 minutes after she left hubby said I changed my mind. So # 1 is a jr., #2 is named after my grandfather and hubby's cousin and brother. My daughter is named after my mother. Take your time, you'll come up with the perfect name for your little one. Oh and with #2 he was going to be Charles Dewayne, after grandfather and cousin, I went into labor and on the drive to the hospital hubby realized it was his brother, Michel's birthday. Hubby wanted to throw out Charles and when I refused said name Charles Michel, but we'd already told cousin he was being named after him so we ended up with Charles Michael Dewayne. I like it and it's unique. I didn't use the same spelling for Michel but who cares we all know who he's named after and his uncle is particularly fond of him for that alone. Anyway, enjoy this time and you'll come up with something wonderful.

Are there any family names or names thay you're leaning toward? I am the mother of three bi-racial kids (black/white). Mine are named after family, both black and white, but none of the names are particularly "black" or "white". My suggestion is don't get tied down with what other people will think of your childs name and focus on what you and dad like. Good luck and God bless.
