My baby is mixed white and black, she will be 1 next month and her skin is still white. Is there a chance that her skin will get any darker or is there a certain age that you know that will be the color they stay? I haven't been around any mixed babies that are as light skinned as her, so i don't know what to expect.

Hi, Ive just joined & just seen this post. My son is 11 weeks old, My partner is asking for a DNA test because our son is so light (thats another issue) I know i havent slept with anyone else so hes welcome to waste his money. Anyway my son is really light, You might be able to see from my profile pic. Is it correct to say that most mixed babies darken over time?? When do mixed babies get their color? My partner also seems to think that he dosent even look mixed!! im going mad over here... just need some people to speak to.. thanx x

Hi, I have an 8 month old mixed daughter. When she was born she was very pale. Her great grandmother on her daddies side (the black side) said to look at the color of her cuticles, and ears. She said that you can see how dark a child will be by the color of there cuticles. I don't know if it is always true, but she was right about my daughter, and she had 12 kids and 36 grand kids herself, so I usually listen when she talks. I hope you find this helpful.

My oldest is very white & has green eyes, my middle son looks more mixed & my daughter is light with almost black eyes, she looks more hispanc at times than white & black. Can't wait to see what our newest addition will look like. All children will look different. They are who they are, don't worry about their color.

I am wondering ---
I adopted a baby I was told he was half white half black --when he was born he was white as can be. The bio mom wasn't sure -- we figured he was all white --but now I wonder? He doesn't look at all like his bio brothers -- is there any way to know for sure… I would think he would want to know…
Thanks!

Both my boys were pretty pale and fair skinned as infants... they stayed that way for a couple of years until around age 3 or 4, when they started becoming darker gradually. by 5, my older son really started taking on more of the African American features of their dad, especially his hair, skin and nose. My younger one also has done the same but to a lesser degree than his older brother.

I have mixed children and a set of mixed twins as well, all have the same father but yet all are different shades of color. The oldest is darker and the twins well one is really light almost white and the other darker. Mixed children can be of any shade it is up to the genes that the child carry, some take the lighter gene and some darker so don't be shocked if you have a mixed child that looks white, you can't pick the gene that the baby receives.

My father is black and my mother is white. I have three older siblings and we all look as if we are Puerto Rican (what most people ask us if we are). The wonderful thing about mixed kids is that they come in many colours. My oldest brother's wife also has a white mother and black father but she looks African american and their two kids (my nephews) look totally different. My eldest nephew is white skinned and his younger brother is darker skinned like his mother. You never know what kind of hair or skin color your mixed kid will have.

Hello everyone . I'm mixed and I had a daughter for a black man and now I am married to a white Lebanese man. I have 5 kids in total but four of them is for my Lebanese husband. My daughter is 17 years old and my Lebanese husband has been taking care of my daughter since she was 1 year. I just told her recently that her current father is not her biological father . And she was not too surprised cause she was already suspecting that something was wrong. And she did burst into tears when I told her, I had to fly to the uk with her to show her , her grandmother from her biological father. Now she is even more confused than ever cause, she now believes that she does not belong to anywhere. Sometimes she looks at celebrity kids that have mixed moms and black dads. And still wonder that if her mom is mixed and her real dad is black y doesn't she still look like them. She has lost her confidence totally in her self . My problem is that I don't know why I relaxed her beatiful curly hair she used to have , her hair curls a bit now but it is still total damaged. And she just cut her hair last week really short. I wish I could post a picture of she when she was a kid , before she cut her hair and now. How can I help her gain her confidence and help her get her curly hair back. Plsss I need your help to help my daughter.

Not likely that she will get lighter in my experience. Mixed race children tend to get darker. Seems like u just have stronger genes.

My daughter was very pale when she was born.. she is 7 now going on 8 and she is still very fair .. her hair is actually very fine as well, not wavy or curly like a lot of mixed children I see. My daughter looks like the lead girl high school musical.. mommy is black french spanish mix and dad is blonde hair blue eyed .... skin color has to do with dna.. our family on my side is already mixed up and husbands side is just white from Europe so , our child has stayed lighter for the most part..... you cant tell shes mixed it just looks like we stole someones kid... after she was born I wouldnt let her leave the I didnt want anyone to screw up and give me a different baby.. our daughter woild probably fit in best when we go to Paris france.. there are no, are yiu her mother are you guys together type questions there...

My son is one, he is half white (polish) and half black (jamaican). He is light, but not white, he got very funny hair, the back is curly and short but the front long and streight. He also got very bright blue eyes. When he was bon he was white but with the tine he did get a but darker. His dad is dark but then his dad is light brown and mum dark. I think its all genetic. :) mixed kids might get darker with age but who cares? They are who they are, they are your kids no matter what. For example my parter's brother was really light when he was born and he is 109% jamaican, but with time e did get darker.
When i was in hospital, when my son was born, in the room next to me was a black lady who had a baby same night as me and her daughter was white even though both of her parents were black, i seen her few weeks ago and her daughter i still white and they done DNA (because the dad didnt believe the girl was his and yeah she is HIS). :) so amazing how genetics works :) i dont really care if my baby get any more darker i live him the way he is, he is my little heartbreaker :)

All depends if you have white genes. Most african american people are part white. If you have white genes and your spouse is white, your children will look white, and in other countries, they will be considered of white race.

We are so Blessed to have 6 beautiful mixed children. Our youngest is 32 yrs old. They all have stories about themselves. one of our daughters had a fantastic story she wrote for her college admission. The title" When I found out I was black" It was one of the funniest stories I have ever read. She was accepted into Harvard. All our beautiful children are different shades which changes with time. Our darker kids got lighter and our lighter kids got darker with varying tones depending on the time of year. They are all so beautiful. We are so proud.
You have to learn to accept the fact that they are part of you and part of their father and so they have to learn to celebrate both regardless of their skin tones. I hope your anxieties are not contagious.

Dont worry about the color of your babys skin, she is beautiful with whatever she was given. Im black and my husband is white. We have two girls. Our first has blonde hair hazel eyes and her skin is white. Our second is a brunette with blue eyes and her skin is 2 shades darker than the first. I never thought my kids would be so white, but it doesnt matter anymore. They are mine and beautiful.

My daughter has two daughters, 1/2 white & 1/2 dominican. One girl is a lovely rich dark Carmel 15months old and the other is pale white 3 months old. Go Figure. The 15 month old has some very crazy scary hair, but we plan on making it gorgeous!! The little one is still sort of bald so not sure yet. My daughter has naturally pretty tight curly hair soft and fine, her hubby has dominican tight curled hair course. This should be very fun and interesting. We had no idea the skins could come out so differently but we could tell from the beginning what each would be.

My son is 3/4 white and 1/4 black, im whit and his father is mixed. Skin tone all depends on genetics. Actually sperm carries melanin and it depends on how much melanin the sperm that fertalized the egg carries. Like I said my son is only a quarter black, he'a not real dark but he's got nice color and is darker than his 1/2 black aunts..its all genetics..a mixed kid can range any color

I don't care what colour his skin was just a little shocked since the father is so dark. However, you never know what they will end up looking like until they get older.

If she is turning one then I wouldn't expect it to get much darker. I am mixed the same and I was born pink but my skin changed within a few weeks. Mixed or even black children can be very light or dark. I have 3 brothers, 1 very light, one tanned, one darker and I am darker as well. I also have a black cousin who is very light :)

At birth, the doctor said you have a boy but he is white and for the first year, he was very fair. I find with my son that when we live in South Africa he is tan all the time because he spends much of his time outside, but when we live in NYC or the UK he goes back to being paler.

My daughter is 1/2 black and 1/2 white. I waited for her to darken up, but after 15 years she's still as white as me, maybe lighter, with green eyes like me and brown kinky hair. She looks like a white version of her father with my skin, eye and hair color. My other 2 kids don't look like they have any white in them but they have small features of mine. That's the great thing about genes. You get so many mixtures and God always finds such beautiful combinations that are different with each one.

I have 3 bi-racial girls. My youngest is 7 months and I can tell now that she is the fairest of them all. Fair skin, light hair, and eyes. Babies that young are still pink and their skin is very thin. She might be fair with more African features (like my youngest). You just have to wait and see as the beauty unfolds either way.

My cousin Erin is super light like that and can easily pass for Caucasian which is fine because her dad is. She has been like that from the start and she's about 8 now. My sister Jacqueline has been bright white all her life and she in her 20's. You just never know. Either way, it doesn't matter, we love them both, whether they "darken" up or not cause they belong to us...:)

what a cute picture. Skin color of mixed children shouldn't really matter any way. Your daughter is about the color of my cousin, she may be a bit tanner though. Both my cousin's parents are Black though. That's what's funny he's Black (not biracial) and very light, so you never know how someone is going to turn out. there are many genes that go into the color of skin polygenic inheritance. I've seen mixed babies that are very dark, sometimes darker than me (both my parents are black) and I've seen some very light, it can either way. Doesn't really matter at the end of the day because skin color is so diverse.

some mixed babies stay very light( or white), there really is no certain age i dont think. my daughter is 16 now, she is faily dark, i know exposure to sunlight will darken a fair colored child. I have a friend with all mixed kids they have great skin tone, the last one she had is with a different father, he is pretty light, so her daughter is white and is now four, you cant tell she is mixed at all
