Hi! We are a young family with a 2 going on 3 half Asian son and planing on relocating in Portland,OR. We just moved from Buffalo, NY to a small mountain town in Montana for my husband's new job. I have heard many nice things about Seattle and Portland especially they are both diverse And open to different cultures. We would appreciate any tips on nice and friendly communities to settle in Portland. We love northwestern Montana but there are not many options to choose for a family like us, an interracial couple with a hapa son. Looking forward to hear from you guys :)

although I can nor reply about where to live I am very interested in this topic also. We might be moving to Portland summer 2012 from Champaign illinois. I am originally form Long Island, NY. WE too are an interracial couple with 3 girls. We are low key, relax people and are looking for a neighborhood fit. Can anyone tell me about the schools. I have a daughter entering 3rd grade.

Hello! I'm not sure if you moved yet, but I am originally from Buffalo too! And I've lived in Portland for 12 years. It is a wonderful place to live. I am pregnant with our first child, and we are also bi-cultural/bi-racial (Puerto Rican and Irish).

We live in the South East Woodstock/Mt. Scott nieghborhood. There are so many great areas for kids, and it really depends on your economic level and what you want--but for us Mt. Scott/Woodstock is diverse and one of the last very affordable areas in Portland. There are a lot of young couples, and you will love the Mt. Scott community center. Let me know if you move here! I would love to meet you!

I live in Beaverton, in the Tanasbourne area by Nike, but I work in Portland. I have 3 boys that are American Indian and Irish from me and Black from their father. The Beaverton area has a lot of Asians because of Intel.
