I googled " how did my mixed baby get lice?" and this site popped up. i was directed to a post about lice but alot of the comments said they never heard of such a thing. Well about 24 hrs ago I found out my 4 month old baby girl has lice. I am black and her dad is black and white. She has very fine straight hair. When we went to the dr ( who also has mixed babies) told me, my heart was broken. Its weird dealing with this and I feel so bad. She said due to lice being attracted to a certain hair follicle type and dry scalp she was the perfect candidate. My other children are mixed except my oldest but their hair is thicker and curlier. Is anyone dealing with this? Or just dealt with lice? We started first treatment last night and the next one in a week. I also started my other kids on it but the dr said she doubts they get lice But I have been in close contact with my baby and I recently permed my hair after 5 years and I found a bug in my hair!!

Anyone can get lice, some people are just more ceceptable than others.

The reason most black people don't have lice is because they use a lot of hair products. There is the 2nd or 3rd bout of lice going around my dauthers school. Everyone keeps getting them, except for my daughter. I use a lot of leave-in conditioner/oil when I do her hair.

Lice like clean hair. when you have oils or hairspray in your hair, the lice can't attach to the shafts.

Make sure you wash all of your bedding, blankets, pillows, hats, even the couch pillows to make sure all the lice/eggs are gone and don't jump right back on you.

You are not a bad mom. This stuff happens. Who know where you got them, could have been anywhere.

Good luck!
