In the last few months it seems race has become a bigger issue than it has for us in the past. Esp with the crazy election. My daighter is now 7 this Dec...How do I protect her jus from eveyday ignorance?

I don't know that you can protect her, you can educate her on everything that gets thrown her way. My kids were suspended for fighting in high school sticking up for themselves, and have learned to walk away on many occasions. I agree though, racial tension has been high since the election. I can't remember feeling the feeling I felt since back in the 80's when my kids were babies. I never heard so many black jokes in poor taste, or heard so much verbalized prejudice. It was really uncomfortible for a while, but I can tell it's getting better where I'm at already. I'm sure it will flare up again when he is sworn into office. Just keep reinforcing how precious your children are, telling them how beautiful they are and their own confidence will be her protector.
