I took my girls to the dentist at the age of three. It gets them use to the idea. So many kids are afraid of dentist, so I think it is best to start early.

My daughter went just after her first birthday. The dentist doesn't do much at this age but she gets used to going to the dentist so when it really matters she will be ready.

Dentists recommend around their first birthday. Please don't wait till there is a problem!!! PREVENTION is key!

our doctor recommends 6 months after the first tooth comes in. then every 6 months so the can put a protective coating on the teeth.

when ur child gets their 1st tooth you can call & set up an appointment with the dentist otherwise most ppl take their children to see the dentist for the 1st time between the age 15-18 months old...... teeth hygien is very important in children and the sooner to see a dentist the better.........

I think it depends on the dentist. My oldest didn't see a dentist until she was 4 and it was a negative experince and my youngest just went for the first time in july and she is 2.

I took mine at age 3, when all his baby teeth were out. Only because his being bottle-fed somehow affected the growth of his teeth and his doctor suggested that we bring him to a dentist before he gets an overbite. Of this we were thankful for.

My children have all gone to the dentist just after their first birthday. We have a great dentist that will let the baby sit on my lap while he looks in baby's mouth just to make sure the teeth are coming in right. All 4 of my boys go every 6 months as recommended. I start them out early so that they get used to the dentist and are comfortable going in. That way if they ever need work they aren't afraid.

The childrens hospital recommends that little ones go for a dental checkup after their first birthday ( I thought that was early too!); however, my peds. dentist prefers his little patients to start at 2 1/2 - 3 yrs old
