UM i do intentionally have kids outside of my race for what my kids will look like . for their skin color, eye color (but that never happens) and hair texture. so yes we are out there.

Considering how often I see white women on here posting that their children have "nappy" hair then where in the hell did this comment come from, WTF!

Okay, i thought i ended up with kids because I love my husband and having some fun with him ...i guess not. Better let him know i wanted them for their hair. Make some wigs.

wow my daughter is mixed and its not because of how i wanted her hair to turn out its because i love her father but for those who would i assume its because the hair is easier to manage and they wont need relaxers to straighten there hair

I have heard some black women say that but I think it's mostly just a joke not how they honestly feel cause most women I know who make that exact statment will NEVER date outside their race.

Or maybe they just fell in love with a white man, and had a kid. Please don't open your mouth if your only working with an IQ of 80 or less. If that's to hard for you to understand, which it probably will be, educate yourself then reply huns. K. Thanks.

To assume that implies your just as stupid as this statement...its obvious we don't want biracial children just for their hair, they gotta have the light skin as well!! MORON...

I think SOME African-American women feel that that non-black side will make their hair more manageable and I guess if they prefer a certain skin color, a probably lighter, complexion. I on the other hand feel like you shouldn't use your man's skin color as a reason to have a baby. You should use love as a reason to have a baby AND be able to support them. Of course, black women, need to educate themselves on how to take care of their children's natural hair and love their kids, no matter what they look like, because that's a mother's love.

In the same vein as Rachael, some white women want brown babies. Some people have babies for all the wrong reasons - why try to figure it out? Next time you meet a woman who does so, ask her why she does so.

From a sociological perspective (and being the devil's advocate), tan skin, and loosely curled hair is the ideal in modern American society. It makes sense in that light why a person would strategically choose a partner for a desired type of offspring. Hopefully most people choose their partner based on love and compatibility rather than that sideline stuff. Like Melissa said, you never know what features a mixed race child will have.

That's just plain ignorance!! My kids are bi racial and although they do have nice hair my nephew who is also bi racial is just the opposite hi hair is dry and nappy, then when it comes down to knowing what kind of hair products to use(if its needed)some women don't have a clue what to use. Some also say they prefer mixed race children b/c of their complexion/features haha...funny...I've seen mixed kids with darker complexions and AA features too. I don't understand why they cant see that all children are beautiful no matter what race or ethnic background they come from!

the same reason that some white girls want bi-racial kids just for the hair- they think the hair looks nicer. it's a stupid reason to have a kid, especially since you have no idea what kind of hair they will have, but oh well
