My son is 10 months old and did the same thing!! I was very concerned about it, my doc assured me that it is normal. If I remember correctly 1/3 of babies will head bang, and boys are more likely to head bang than girls. At first, I would scold my son (saying NO) but then just ignored him, and he stopped within a few days. It was just a quick phase for my son, that only lasted a few weeks! Good Luck

I have a 9 month old too who has just started doing this. I have asked around and apparently it is normal - although I have no idea why they do it...

my son is 1 and i noticed the more i would tell him no and showed him i was paying attention to it he would do it more,i notice also when he gets angry he does it a lot. so i just ecnored him when i heard him bang his head i would look out the corner of my eye and see he was looking at me waiting for me to say or do something. so after i kept ignoring him he just stopped.

My 6 yeqar old son did used to do that all the time. He eventually grew out of it.

my son is 14 months old and does it on occasion. It was mainly a way to get my attention, because I would get so upset when he did it. Now he will do it occasionally because he thinks it is humorous. Like the other Mom's have said....just ignore it and he will stop.

My son is 4 1/2 years old and since he was in the womb (ultrasounds showed his head movement) he has always been rocking it or at night it soothes him and he bangs/rocks it against the wall..I used to be really concerned about it, but over the years i have learn't that its more of a comfort factor for him then anything. Check with your docter and see if they have a concern about it...but as long as he's not doing it hard and or hurting himself (from what you see) i would ignore it...my son stopped the banging of his head now he rocks it when he's tired/sleeping/upset/happy...its not a sign of anything tho alot of boys do it...just watch carefully, ask your docters advice on what they think, and improvise, make sure your child has soft cushionin around him when he is sleeping and make sure if he does continue to bang his head that he has a pillow/blankey or something soft instead of hard that could potentially hurt him if hit hard enough..
Good luck...
