My step-son who well be 7 in a couple weeks wont stop peeing in his pants. He has been fully potty trained since just after turning 4 and he has just started peeing in his pants this school year. It started in october ocasionally then over time its became a everyday thing. He was just doing it at the boys club were he went after school which because of it got kicked out at the end of december. So we took him to the doctor they did lab work and said nothing is wrong medically he is just being lazy. We have tried several punishments methods which didnt stop him. So now we do the award on days it doesnt happen which I feel we shouldnt do for a child this old but its not stopping the problem anyhow. Im worried he'll end up being made fun of cuz he does it at school too. I really need advice. Has anyone else had a boy go through this? What did you do?

If it's something he recently started doing, you need to look at what kind of changes he experienced in his life around the time it started. Something could be buggin him. He could be acting out on purpose or it may be something he can't really control. Also, I don't want to freak you out but that is a sign of sexual abuse as well. It doesn't always mean sexual abuse, google "signs of sexual abuse" and see if there are any other similarities.

If this was a medical issue then he'd do it everyday regardless where he was. It dont happen over the weekend or while he is home. Over the two week christmas break he never wet himself. He was just doing at the boys club but since he got kicked out he now only does it every tuesday and thrusday at school during his speech class. Its as if he is peeing himself to get out of doing stuff. He didnt like the boys club and he dont like speech class cuz they actually make him do school work. He doesnt get embarrassed he has told me he just doesnt care. so yes he is doing it on purpose!

My son is having the same problem. He had labwirk done AND an ultrasound of his kidneys and bladder. That came back showing that his kidneys are enlarged. He then had to have a cystogram done to make sure he wasn't having reflux, readin for enlarged kidneys! The test came showing no reflux but a pouch in his bladder. The specialist he was sent to has now referred him on to a specialist that specializes in pediatrics and urology. I'm hoping it's nothing. But. You have to understand that punishing him is NOT the answer. You have to help him with this. Making him go to the bathroom every 2 hours wether he has to go or not.

It maybe a nerve problem that he has. That is another issue it could be for my son. Increase his fiber and water intake. Have him go to the br then go back after 3-5 minutes to make sure has has emptied out. They have potty watches at Toys R Us that will help you set alarms to remind him to go potty!

I hope this helps. Again punishment isn't the way to handle this, it may actually make it worse. Kids this age are easily embarrassed and wouldn't pee their pants on purpose!
