When I was changing my son's diaper I noticed 2 red rash-like spots just above his penis(not actually on his penis) At first I thought it might just be dry skin or a bit of irration from his diaper, but now I'm not so sure. After a few days of vaseline the spots are not better and now there are 3. Any thoughts on what this could be?

And up until now he has not had sensitive skin whatsoever...he's never even had a bit of diaper rash, even during a stint of augmentin

It almost sounds like urine burn to me. I would keeps using a diaper rash cream of some sort to clean it up and protect the skin and change often. It will get better. It would also be heat rash. I know sounds weird this time of year but that area gets hot any time of the year. If the diaper rash cream doesnt work I would try to let him go in his birthday suite or a cloth diaper for a little wile for a few days and see what happens. You have to change a cloth diaper after one wet though. They dont hold as much. You have find cloth diapers in almost any baby section along with pins and rubber paints. All must haves with cloth diapers. Good luck

i noticed the same thing too, i've been using sudocrem but it's a bit stubborn. This is so random, but I also notice if his poo leaks out of his nappy, it normally leaks out of his right side only?! maybe i'm not putting the nappy on evenly! im a first time mum and i think im young (28 lol)

We just recently went through a horrible case of diaper rash with our daughter. It turned out to be a yeast infection. First we tried butt paste and yogurt, we ended up having to get vaginal cream for her. I noticed it came back as soon as we started using wipes again. (We had gone to just wet paper towels (Viva is best) as it didn't hurt her as much.) This is our fourth baby and that was the worst I've ever seen it. All of our boys got diaper rash from time to time and we found that Desitin (the old thick stuff not the new creamy) was best on most of them for run of the mill diaper rashes and the butt paste worked best on our youngest son. Also letting him run au natural for a little bit will help it.

try butt paste, Sometimes my boys would get irritated down there, and they were never rash babies, and I would just put a litle bit rash cream on it, and it would go away by the next day, if it doesn't after a few days you my want to take him to the doctor
