My mother in law and her sister both have celiac. The have many different symptoms that are not alike. The dr said there are many different strains of celiac that can cause someone to be more allergic then others.

Hope this helps

Hi, I have 3 children that are all either celiac or gluten intolerant.  when we took them off wheat and dairy we had to wait as long as a month before there was any physical changes.  We suffered from the symptoms you are talking about as well as throwing up.  Once we took them off of everything the throwing up stopped within a week, but the stomache aches and took longer to get control of, and one of my sons has the sick rash and it takes months to get rid of.  hope this helps.

Sounds a lot like my son.  I had a blood test done, but that was not accurate.  He would not sleep and never had a normal BM until he was gluten free.  There is a difference in being wheat free and gluten free.  There are two types of allergies as well.  Celiac is an auto immune "allergy" and the skin test is dermatological allergy.  Gluten is also in rye and barley so wheat free is not always gluten free.  You can do a lot of research online or you can consult a nutrionist, which should be a lot of help in helping you learn to discern.  My son at almost 3 now sleeps through the night most of the time, but if he gets some gluten he is up in the night with cramps.

There is no set standard of "symptoms" for celiacs - it manifests itself in different ways in everyone. For instance, My mother gets terrible diarreah and my sister gets intensely constipated. You'd think that since they're mother and daughter their symptoms would be alike, but in actually they're exactly opposite. My cousin gets rashes all over her body, some people get joint pain or fibromyalgia, some people get mood disorders (Like, I have bi-polar).  So it's really hard to diagnose this from just symptoms, which is why you need to have the blood tests to see if the gene is present, and if it is, the only sure 100% accurate diagnosis is an endoscopy. Hopefully this has helped. Also, for more information, visit www.celiac.com they have great tools and recipes and blogs. :)

thank u taryn i am currently waiting 4 an outpatients appointment 4 him but didnt realise there were different types thanku x
