My son, William goes in tomorrow for an intestinal biopsy on a gluten free diet. Then in a month or so they will introduce wheat for a week and cause him to bleed out of one or both ends and take another biopsy see what he looks like on gluten. They say these are the last two things to do before they know 100% if this is what he has, or if we have to look into something else being the cause. But...seriously. the boy bleeds when he has wheat. Why in the world do they quesiton this. I don't know, but I do want to know that it isn't something else. I can deal with Celiac Disease.

Anyone else been through all these doctor procedures?

Keep him in your prayers.

my doctor put my son back on glutein and test was still negative but there was no doubt that the glutein free diet was causing him to gain weight and to stop throwing up and causing his stomach to harden like a rock. doctor said we could do more but knew i didn't want to put my child through that. he said he was sure he has celiac's and said we will treat it as such. he is doing so much better. his laugh is the best thing to hear. for months all he would do is lay down and cry. Hope this works for you.

My feeling is if your child reponds and is thriving on a gluten-free diet, why put them through the tourture of a gluten challenge? I would definatly reccomend finding a new doc. Is your child currently gluten free, if so have all the problems/symptoms gone away? If he is GF and still having issues then I would explore other diagnosis'.

Angela,

We were told the same thing by our first GI doc. Then, found out that that is very old school and changed doctors. I would question that or get a second opinion after the biopsy. Just my opinion, but it sounds horrible to put any child through all that. Let us know how the biopsy goes tomorrow.
