Hello moms of central florida we just moved here 2 weeks ago from new jersey. My daughter will be 3 in december any advice on pre-schools, parks, play groups etc. would be more than appericated. We are staying with our in laws in winter haven, is this a good area? we are looking to buy our own house north of orlando any recomedations of where to start? I heard clermont is nice. Are there any area's we should stay clear of?

I have lived in polk county all of my life. I lived in Lakeland until I was 22. Now my husband and I live in Auburndale right next to Winter Haven. We have great parks and so does Lakeland. My daughter is 18 months old and loves to play at the parks. The one she likes the most is in Lakeland off of Edgwood. The name of the park is commonground.

Welcome to Florida. I was raised in Florida. We have Hurricane Season from June 1 to the end of November. Florida has things to offer. I just can't think at this moment. LOL. What part of Polk County r n? I am in Lakeland. Please WBS! Looking for new friend's.

I moved to Polk ( davenport ) in January from the UK and struggled to find good childchare to be honest. I ended up taking my children all the way down to Celebration ( Kindercare) its not the cheapest but for me it was the best for my 3 & 1 year old.
Polk is nice but lots of places are full of tourist so really check them out . I live on a street with only one perm neighbour !

Welcome to Florida! I don't know much about Polk county, so I can't help you out on that end... But if you're looking to settle in north of Orlando there are some nice areas in Seminole county. Lake Mary, Oviedo, Winter Park & Maitland are all nice and Altamonte Springs isn't too bad either. Clermont is a good area, still growing alot, but it's actually due west of Orlando, not north.
As far as staying away from... I think just about all areas have their good & bad spots. Some worse than others of course. Even areas like the Millenia Mall area have some seedy surroundings.
