About a yr ago I caught my 12 yr old neice sexually abusing my 3 yr old (at the time) son....We moved across the country....but about 6 mos after we moved our son began to become out of hand...

He refuses to listen to any perental direction, he yells at us, he refuses to sleep in his own room...the list can go on and on...

He has been to a counselor and we try to give him the extra attention needed but it doesnt seem to be working...


any ideas on how to improve his behavior? the counselor wasnt any help @ all

I am so sorry to hear this Analiese.

Perhaps when he is doing something good really praise him?

Depending on where you live there are services that can help. For example, I am in Ontario and the Childrens Aid Society has free services to help families cope with situations like this.

Sometimes local hospitals have services too?

Have you considered Play Therapy? This is conducted by an educational psychologist and is supposed to be effective in helping children cope with the sub-conscious issues they may have relating to the abuse.

Worth a try....
