My son just started the second grade and is doing very well. His teacher says that he is one of her best students. But it seems like he is a different boy when he comes home. He wants to play sports and he is currently playing football for the first time. When he is home, from the moment he gets off the bus, if he can't do what he wants to do, he will yell and throw a fit. Throwing things. He sometimes even hits the pets and yells at his sister. He tells me he hates me and that I am the worst mom ever. That doesn't bother me. what bothers me and I need help with is how to curve this energy and anger he has into something else. That is why I got him into sports but that doesn't seem to be working. I need help. Because now his sister is starting to do the same thing.

Anger issues....we are dealing the same thing here at our home. Our 9yr old son is picking up the same things his older sister is doing. She is 16 and diagnosed with ADD, ODD, Depression, Anxiety, and more. He sees her behavior and reacts the same exact way. I think he is learning this from watching his sister. Although it is scary to think that we could be dealing with the same behavior patterns with will lead to him being diagnosed with ODD.
But we dont see this as much as school does. His behavior occurs more at school than at home. Wondering if what you are dealing with is a sensory overload in your son. Maybe he doesnt want to be in sports, or does and it is taking too much of his energy or is more than he can handle but not willling to admit that to you.
Talk with him and see what is going on. I know you posted this months ago, and still no one has responded. Have things changed at all since your post? I'm curious to hear how things are going now.
