I joined this site because April 2012 my 5 year old son was diagnosed with a Stage 4 Wilm's tumor. He had his entire left kidney removed along with a small tumor on his left lung. He went through 6 sessions of radiation and is now on week 5 of chemotherapy. He is scheduled for 7 months of chemotherapy. Anyone else here have a child or had a child with a Wilm's Tumor???

Yes, i am a mother of a 6 year old boy with a Wilms Tumor. His was a stage two, meaning he has a different treatment plan then your family has ahead of them. We discovered it on April 19th, we were sent to Childrens immidately. He had surgery three days later, by then the Tumor had grown three times the size it was on the first night. I am staying at the Ronald Mc donald house for now, and we will be living with family soon, he has a cousin who is in his grade for company on the down days. Our children are stronger than we even realize. ;)

Hi moms, i hold you in my hearts...have faith and peace... I know this is a parents worst nightmare, but you can and WILL get through this. My son Luke was dx at 2 1/2 with stage 4 Wilms favorable in December of 2010. He had his left kidney removed, had radiation to his abdomen and lungs (both had nodules) and did 26 weeks of chemo. He is still in remission and doing fantastic, praise God and it's been over a year since we ended treatment. He will be playing peewee flag football this week--he is now 4. The road will be tough and there will be scary times, but you can do this...stay strong! I'm here for you if you need to talk! May God grant you and your babies courage and healing...

My four year old son was diagnosed in April 2012 with Stage IV Wilm's tumor (favorable histology). He has nodules on his lungs. He had his left kidney removed and he's had 8 radiation and 13 chemo treatments so far. He had to have another surgery in July to remove scar tissue from his intestines. He has 2 more chemo treatments left until we have another CT scan in November. I try to stay positive. He's handled everything like a trooper. Reading the stories about reoccurances is very scary to me.

Yes - My son (4 1/2 at the time) was diagnosed with stage 2 wilms tumor in January this year. He had 4 weekly hits of chemo then surgery in february to remove the kidney and tumour and then 18 weeks of chemo. We have just finished and he has just had his final ct scan and the original site of cancer is clear but he has a lump in his throat and we will start investigating this next week.
Fingers crossed its only a cyst or gland.
I feel for you, i've been there and its hard - do you have any other children. I have a 10 year old girl and an 8 year old girl?

My heart goes out to you and your daughter. Cancer is scary, and the little ones seem to be such troopers in all of this. I live in Wisconsin and trying to find some support groups to join.

My 4 year old daughter was just diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on May 1st. I know it's not the exact same thing but I can relate to the situation you are going through. Kyli has had 2 spinal taps and a bone marrow biopsy done since she was diagnosed. I joined this site in hopes of finding moms that are going through the similar situation.
