Went to our month check up at Sick Kids this week. Erika had a 65 degree curve on the day of the surgery. She is now at 20 degrees. They don't expect much more change than this to happen but there should be a little more movement in her rib cage. It is still twisting back into a more normal position.

She is starting to lay new bone down along the hardware. We go back in six months and they will make a ruling on when she can become more physical - like participating in gym class. She will not like that as she has been spoiled and has not had to take gym since Jan/08.

Just thought I would send a note to update you on her progress.

Hi Faith

The doctor measure the curve each time we go in for a check up. He does something on his computer where he takes a point from the most curved part of the spin and then a point from where it is straight. I'm sure if you are good at geometry/angles math - and I am not good at this, you could work out the curve degree.

The doctor will start with your initial xray from the chiropractor and compare it to each one that he takes along the way. Just ask him each time what the progress of the curve is cuz sometimes they forget to tell you.

I hope everything goes well at your appointment. Keep me posted.

Thanks for the update. I only get notices when someone replies to a thread I've posted on. I'm happy to hear the progress on her curve. How do you go about measuring the curve? I'll probably google that. I didn't think about it until just now that since I have his x-rays, I could measure his current status...

We, ourselves, will know more in August. Wesley will go in to see the orthopedic specialist on August 3rd. We have the x-rays from the chiropractor to take with us. My summer's been crazy busy with 4 kids worth of doctors, dentist, eyes, and specialists.

Wesley got new glasses this week and now holds his neck up a little bit better.
