My daughter who is 6 monthes started PT 2 weeks ago. The therapist says the torticollis should be gone in a couple of monthes but she is more worried about my daughters stiffness. Does anyone have this? She has rolled over once (last week). She does not sit or hold things well at all. She can barely reach for things.
Is this normal? This whole situation is so stressful...

I had twins and one was diagnosed with Torticollis around 2 months of age. The things you are experiencing with your daughter are perfectly normal. My son was a couple months later than his brother in rolling over, crawling, standing up etc. We went through the therapy, and although it may not seem like she is improving, more than likely she is. I was so worried we were doing the therapy for nothing, but it was kind of like, we woke up one morning and it was so much better! You might notice she only wants to roll to one side also. Make sure you place her toys on the opposite side that she rolls to encourage her to roll the other way. When she's in her car seat, roll up a blanket or something soft and place it on the side she tends to lean her head. We also got my son a excercise ball and would place him on top of it on his belly, so he could balance his head better, which helped A LOT! This was one of the excercises the therapist would do. Another thing, with the stiffness, we were told to heat up a wash cloth and place it on his neck for a couple minutes prior to his stretches to loosen things up, this also helped quite a bit. Or, we did a lot of the stretches after his bath while he was more limber and relaxed. My son is now 16 months old and you'd never know he had it by looking at him. It took a solid 4-6 months of therapy before we seen the improvment. Good Luck!

My son has torticollis and he has had it since he was a few weeks old. He is 11months old and he just barely started sitting up on his own. It has been very difficult sometime because he is behind. We are still waiting on him to crawl. The therapist is the best thing for him! She keeps saying that he will do it when he is ready. His head is also flat in the back from laying on one side. His neck is still stiff from time to time, but it is much better now that he can turn his head from side to side all the way now. The best way i look at it is when he finally does crawl it will be so worth it. :)
