Would really like pump advice.

My 7 yr old daughter has had the Medtronic Mini Med pump since 2008. We love it and can not imagine life without it. She definitely has more freedom to eat during the day and it's so much easier to put in 1 site every 3 days instead of 7- 8 shots a day. We have quite a few kids from our diabetes support group that are on the Omni Pod (tubless pump) and they love it. Guess there are some kinks to work out but the issues were not big enough to get rid of it. They say they would never go back to having a pump with a tube. Your best bet is to do your research online if you can and then contact the pump comapnies. Most companies will come to your house and do a trial period to see what works best for you. Good luck and happy pumping!

My son has had an animas pump since 2008, he is currently 12 yrs old. He wouldn't go back to injections. I find that he has a better relationship with food, he eats because he is hungry not because he has given himself insulin and HAS to eat or won't take a second helping because he'll need another shot. His A1C is also alot better since the pump start. Sick days and sports are also easier to manage.
On the downside, it's still work, there is more testing and also a learning period when you start the pump. But in general it's been a great thing.
