My 18 yr old daughter is a high school senior and has been dating her boyfriend for 1 1/2 years. She is active in National Honor Society, theatre, choir/band, takes only AP/Honors classes, etc. He is her first real boyfriend and a nice kid. She has known what college she's wanted to attend for several years. She has been accepted and has an almost full ride. It's one of the best schools in our state, carries a $47,000 a year tuition and she's responsible for less than $700 a year after all of her scholarships. Now, as the end of high school is approaching and the time to actually make decisions has arrived, she wants to give it all up over this boy! I do NOT understand it. It's less than an hour away, she'd be home every weekend, etc.

The answer is "First Love".
It's important that you encourage your daughter to see the value in continuing her education and how blessed she is to receive essentially a full scholarship. This is a fantastic achievement and I send my congrats!

It will be challenging since she has on her "rose coloured glasses". I encourage you to Pray and ask God for wisdom and guidance. Let Him tell you the right words to say and at the right timing and be guided by His prompting.

Also pray that God will speak to your daughter and convict her of the important decision she will be making which will affect her life. God Bless
