Hi I am a Mom of 6 children. I have a 15 year old daughter and 19 year old son. I am having trouble with my son doing house chores and following house rules. My son is 19years old, going to college and working a part time job. He is non compliant with my expectations and requests. He says he doesnt have time. I also have a part time job and taking college classes part time. I am an older Mom so running out of energy trying to take care of all the responsibilitys of a household. Yes i am a single parent. My exhusband and father to our children is remarried and lives in another state. As i confront my son about chores he says he doesnt have time and doesnt have the means to get his own place. Very difficult situation. I am a believer and praying Mom having a hard time. Please if anyone might help with.practical suggestions id appreciate it! Thank you, Karen

I understand your frustration. Have you considered an ultimatum? Either he makes a plan to fit in doing his part or he moves out. This seems harsh but your actually doing him a huge favor. I would add into the requirements that he do his part with a decent attitude. It appears that he is not being grateful and is taking advantage. He needs you to be tough and that is hard. That being said I am glad my son lived in the dorm while attending school. Your son will need to get a job to pay for living away from home and he will still need to make time for keeping his place clean. Good things to bring to his attention. We can always make time for things we really want or need to do. I would like to encourage you to keep praying. It is very effective. We don't always see what's happening but something good is happening. You can be sure of it. I wish you the best.
