Why!?!?! I had no plans to go, but received an agenda, so I went with my daughter. It was funny, it was to keep the parents away from their kids so that the kids could register without Mommy hovering over head and ask the appropriate person, a guidance counselor for help, lol. There was not much new info, they pretty much went over what was in the info sent home. The scariest thing was geing told to be sure your student knows how to do laundry!!! I mean, they are 18 people, not 18 months either!! They did go over important thing to bring and not bring, what happens if the student gets sick or has to go to the hospital. My parents, nor my hubby's parents ever set foot on campus until graduation day. These kids are our future leaders? I guess mommy will have to come with!! I just needed to add this was my 5th, yes 5th visit to the campus. So, I can understand if a parent had not seen the campus in person, but after surveying a few parents most had been there 3 or 4 times

This is so true! I have been through it with 3 kids! Is this your first child to leave? What became of my three orientations? I started a Greeting Card co with an EXCLUSIVE line of cards, just for Moms of college kids! Big hit.
Let me know what you think! Lori

If this was my first visit, I would understand, but we had been there several times already! We have information that is great, but it is written down.

I guess it depends on the university because we found our son's parent information session to be extremely helpful. They gave us tons of information that we needed to hear plus a resource book that I'm using as a reference. They, too, separated the kids from the parents so the kids could register for classes with an advisor and I think that was valuable.
