My daughter did receive a good aid package- minus PHEAA (they claim we make too much income, and now we are faced with taking a private loan to make the difference. I was going to try Sallie Mae, any recommendation?

My brother is employed by Dartmouth University and has also had personal experience with Sallie Mae. That's the one he reccommended to us.

Sallie Mae is where my son has has borrowed for three years. He has not had to pay anything (including interest). 6 months after graduation he will have to start making pmts. I also was able to co-sign the loans which dropped his interest rate. We haven't had any problems. My son went out of state and has had to borrow a substancial amount to money.

that is the one my daughter filled out. It took forever but wasn't hard. That is the one her school told her to fill out.

We used Wells Fargo. You have the option of paying interest as you go but don't have to. They also have a 6 month grace period after graduation. Private Loans aren't what anyone wants to use but that's life.

Both of my daughters and I have loans through SallieMae and I have not had any problems with them. The only suggestion I have would be to calculate how much you will need in aid each school year and do your best to apply for loans for just that amount, if possible. The less you borrow, the less you have to pay back in the end. Of course, not having to borrow would be ideal but, one does what one must.

Didn't they offer u the PLUS loan? Also go over her packet very carefully my daughter is going to a private college and there was a state grant that I had to go back three times to finally get them to add it.
