What's in your bag?

What supplies are in your diabetic bag? What do you use for a bag? Over the past 16 months that we have been diagnosed, I have tried all kinds of bags and have yet to find something that I am 100% happy with. I also go through phases where I put so much stuff in there because we *may* need this, and other times I purged it down.

My daughter was diagnosed the day after her 4th birthday and today is her first day of Kindergarten! I'd like to find a bag small enough for her book bag so that she has all of her essential supplies for Grandma's house after she gets home from school until I get her after work.

I look forward to hearing others' creative ideas!

We carry 2 vials of insulin, ice pack, meter, strips, lancets, lancing device, glucagon, syringes, alcohol wipes, a snack, a pocket pack of kleenex, ziplock bags and glucose tabs. We carry it all in a Dia-Pak Deluxe. I bought it off of Amazon, it is made for diabetic supplies and it would easily fit in a back pack and not take up the whole back pack. I like it because it fits in my bag. In the past we've used a smaller lunch box.

I carry a meter with test strips, alcohol wipes, lancets. I also carry her emergency glucagon shot and a couple of snacks and some candyfor a quicker response with me at all times in my purse. My dughters school does not let her have this on her at school it has to be in the nurses office. I have a all this stuff at the caregiviers house as well so she does not have to carry it around. I got an extra meter and glucagon shot by talking to her Dr. she made sure that I had plenty of everything so that it did nopt have to be taken back and forth with the chance of being lost or forgotten. I also found that if I had snacks in her backpack where she could get to them that she would sneak them.

i know my son got a backpack from the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation when we took our class as children's hospital here in dallas. my son carrys the gluten gun, keytone strips, alcohol wipes, hemalog pen , lantis pen, tips, metor and test strips and log and emergency numbers and 15 gram carb snacks and gluten tabs and gluten gel. it sounds like a lot but in case they go into diabetic shock or have highs or lows you need it all. so good luck hope it helps.

Everything she needs should easily fit in to a make-up case. Look for free ones at department stores during promotions they're always super cute.
