I'm new to the circle of moms however not new to addiction. I have 3 biological grown children who have all been faced with the opportunity to use. I am very blessed that 2 of my 3 have opted not to use. One has dabbled with the addiction but not to the extent some have gone, either way it is a part of our family life ~ the wrestless sleep, hanging on to the phone is a feeling I can share.
Unfortunately, yesterday I attended a service of one of my MANY extended children who had struggled with the choice to use. It broke my heart to see and hear the pain in his families hearts. There was a huge turn out at his service of which there were many young adults and I pray that at least one heard the true message of the precious life that has been lost to such addiction. The addiction took his life way too soon, he was only 21.
Moms I feel your pain of denial, acceptance and pray for you to continually keep faith. Hug your children one extra time and be sure to tell them one more time you love them no matter what their choice.
