My 6 yr old was diagnosed with Benign Childhood Epilepsy 2 yrs ago and has been on low doses of Tegratol since. He has seizures maybe once every 4-6 months. I was just wondering who else is in the same boat.

my son started having seizures at 10 days old 20 to 30 a day ,the only medication that worked for him was vigabatrin,since comin off the med over 2 yrs ago,he hasn't had any more seizures.maybe he wouldn't have been partly brain damaged if he'd been given vigabatrin sooner.

My 19 month old son has been on a low dose of Tegretol for a year and hasn't had any seizures while on it. We tried to ween him in November and he lasted over a month before he had another seizure, so he's back on it again with no more seizures. We're going to try weening him again in October. Tegretol has worked for Hamish without any noticable side effects (A lot of other medications seem to have really bad side effects).

my son was dx'd 3 years ago with benign rolandic seizures as well. we tried the wait and see approach...the high vitamin approach and now has been on tegretol for a year or more. he still has seizures, hit and miss and they very in type and frequency. i am not really sure what to think or do. what type of seizures does your son have? my boy is 13 now and doesnt really care if he has them....i sure do....i am the one who finds him on the floor!
