Can an infantile spasm cluster be stopped by waking up the baby?

For the past few days my 8 months old daughter has done some jerking while falling asleep.

They look like sleep starts, but she did 15 of them in a row; however, I can make them stop instantly if I wake her up with my voice or by turning the light on.

Do an infantile spasm cluster stop if the baby awakes? I tried to look for this information online, but I couldn't find an answer. It appears that sleep starts and infantile spasms can look similar, so that got me worried.

In any case, we have an EEG scheduled for next Tuesday, and a neuropediatrician appointment on Friday.

Thanks a lot for your messages; I got the EEG results today, and there are no abnormalities.

We were supposed to do the EEG anyways, as she has cervical dystonia since she was born, and hasn't gone away, but it seems there's nothing "hiding" behind it; s.

Hi my girl had Infantile Spasm and it normally happen when she want to sleep or awake and sometimes it happen when she's tired and excited too... my girl was diagnose when she's 4 mths old and now 5 yrs old. Yupe agreed that EEG helps to confirm the neuro wave in their brain :) we got the results on the spot. Hope the best for you dear

My daughter had Infantile Spasm seizures And regardless if she was awake or asleep the cluster of seizures would happen.

Hi Emma,
When Brian had his EEG the tech knew what it said,then they had there team of epileptologist (sp?) read it that day,of course I had to wait a week to see neuro to get the results but I did call them and they were able to tell me it was "abnormal"(tho that made me insane for a week)
